Since we've enjoyed the very best BBQ from the Carolinas, Kansas City, Memphis, and Texas, we've become extremely spoiled. Living in New England, BBQ is one particular Roadfood that we seek out quite frequently, and from the first bite we always resign ourselves to the fact that others just can't compare. Well, almost always...at least until we try another BBQ joint with glowing reviews and high hopes. Last week, our Boston Monthly Meet-Up group convened at Sweet Cheeks Q near Fenway Park. Like Michael Stern noted in his recent review of Smoke & Bones in Derby, CT, we are also skeptical of those establishments that prepare many different types of BBQ at once, but there were two items in particular for which Sweet Cheeks should win multitudinous foodie awards: the brisket and the biscuits. Their Great Northern Brisket was among the best we've savored anywhere: absolutely succulent and tender enough to cut with a fork. And the biscuits, oh my! These beauties were almost cathead-sized -- maybe kitten's-head? -- and served with a little jar of honey butter. It's really hard to find good biscuits in the Northeast, but these were indeed manna from buttermilk heaven. Here's hoping Sweet Cheeks will christen a brand-new Brisket 'n' Biscuits plate for all to enjoy!
