Digest: Hash Season
Posted by Michael Stern on Monday, October 15, 2012 7:51 AM

I love corned beef hash, roast beef hash, turkey hash, and even clam hash. Vying for top honors in the chip-chopped skillet breakfast category -- especially in the autumn -- is root vegetable hash, as made in beautiful Roxbury, Connecticut, at Mamie's. (Roadfood.com review) The only problem with ordering Mamie's root vegetable hash is that it is hearty fare, leaving precious little appetite for the restaurant's extraordinary creme brulee French toast, blueberry pancakes, hot beignets, coconut layer cake, and peanut butter cream pie.

While we didn't try the hash, we did sample a half dozen other itmes at Mamie's and really enjoyed our food and visit. The setting is beautiful as the restaurant is set in a picturesque part of the area...beautiful!
