Goode Beef
Jim Goode, a man with no restaurant experience, opened the first Goode barbecue joint in Houston in 1977 (see the Roadfood.com review). Today, his only son, Levi, is CEO of the company that now operates seven Houston stores including two other BBQ joints, a taqueria, two seafood restaurants, and the Armadillo Palace, a place for live music and down-home favorites like Frito pie and chicken-fried steak. Read all about this successful Texas restaurant family in this Houston Chronicle feature.
