Michael Stern, in his Roadfood.com review of Lange's Cafe of Pipestone, MN, said, "Beef is the entrée not to miss. Listed as roast beef if it comes on a plate with mashed potatoes, green beans, and gravy, and as hot beef if it is served in a sandwich with mashed potatoes on top and gravy all over, it is pot-roast-tender and deep-flavored." The Minnesota Beef Council apparently agrees, as they have awarded Lange's the Minnesota Beef Backer Award for 2013. At the reception for the presentation, Lange's rolled out some of their finest: Rueben bites, mini-taco shells, beef BLTs, bistro beef canapes, steak bites, flatbreads featuring beef toppings, and beef sliders served on onion buns.
