If you like doughnuts you'll want to get your hands on the March issue of Saveur, which is filled with stories about, and photos of, the fried pastries. There's a feature called United States of Donuts, written by Jane and Michael Stern, that is a coast-to-coast roundup of 50 of their favorite donut sources, many of which appear in a Sterns writeup for the first time. Saveur has a website but the current issue is not yet available online.

Those cherry donuts pictured above are from Friske Orchards in Atwood, MI (see the Roadfood.com review), one of the 50 mentioned in the story.

It's a fun roundup, but be forewarned: even though there are 50 listings, there is not a listing for every state.
