Flo Klewin moved her restaurant Kitchen Little to the Mystic River Marina on Mason's Island in Stonington, CT last year (see the review). Through no fault of her own, except perhaps her success, the eatery is now facing local opposition. It's a complicated situation involving various permits, ordinances, the town planning commission, and disputed approval processes, but the bottom line is this: Kitchen Little is far more successful than the restaurant it replaced, and the neighbors are objecting to the flow of traffic and tourists on their off-the-beaten-path island. Ms. Klewin sounds like she very much wants to be a good neighbor but some of the options being discussed, such as making the restaurant seasonal, may cripple the business. We'll keep an eye on the situation as it develops.

Typical small town politics at work..if it was the mayors place, everything would be just fine.

Mason's Island has always been a stronghold for the self-righteous, bridge-burning cadre of self-important preppies who believe that being judgmental somehow elevates them above the rest of the planet...Unfortunately, they'll find some obscure legal justification to crush this beautiful road-food gem...the unfortunate irony is that this entitled group representing all that's negative about New England, will destroy this little iconic outpost of quality...representing all that's good about us...just sayin'
