10 dollar one-way airline ticket?

A friend of mine was telling me about this new airling starting called Blue Sky or Sky Blue or something like that. Anywho, she mentioned that they were offering 10 dollar tickets for a short period of time. I tired looking online but with little luck. Believe me, I am well aware of the adage, if it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. I just was looking around to see if something does exist. Anyone heard anything more concrete than my swiss cheese head?

www.jetblue.com This one? Seems like their track record is in need of some hype.

www.skybus.com They have an interesting set of rules they call the "The Skybus Rules of Flying" (A.K.A. How we keep our tickets so darn cheap.). I just read their full page ad in the paper. They state they sre flying a brand new fleet of Airbus A319's. Cities listed for $10 flights are Boston, LA, KC, Richmond, Seattle/Vancouver, Greensboro, Ft. Lauderdale, and S.F./Bay Area.

Long time members know that I am a travel agent in my day job. I don't seek to do many air tickets now, but I do keep up with what is going on. (Travel agents don't get paid to do air tickets, unless they add a fee, as opposed to getting a 10% commission a few years back) Anyway, the low fares are legit, but hard to get. Usually they are offered as an intro in new markets, and to generate free press. IMO, they are generally not worth the effort, but if you are willing to spend the time, troll the various travel news sites. Travel junkies are usually aware of these deals a day or two before the general public, so read where the travel junkies read. By the time you read about the cheap fares in the paper, it is usually too late to snag one. JMO Todd

not a great deal. the cross country flights don't line up. To get from Richmond to Seattle and back, I waste two days in Columbus waiting for the connecting flight. But, it's a good deal to visit my buddy in Columbus. ~60 RT for a four day weekend.

Yeah, finally checked them out. They use unorthodox methods like less busier airports and little to no flight schedules. But hey, the price is great.....
