100 Dishes To Eat In Alabama Before You Die

Happy to say that I've eaten at a couple of the places on this list and I plan to add in a few more before I go. A few of the places on the list are recognisable from Trip Reports here on Roadfood.

How fried chicken from Green Acres in Birmingham isn't on there is ridiculous. Perennially a Steve Harvey Hoodie Award nominee and winner in 2007.
 
I'll have to double check but to the best of my knowledge Beauregards in Huntsville is out of business.
 
I'll also throw in a National Championship Burger at Rama Jama's in T-Town.

Thanks so much for posting the updated list.  I had used the prior list to find some really good and interesting places.  Very happy to see Isaiah's in Montgomery get a mention for their lemon catfish and peach cobbler. 

No Chili Dogs in Birmingham?????

Pete's Famous was delicious but Lyric is still up and running a couple blocks away. It's incredible and served me the best hotdog I had on a run through ten or so joints I made last year.

The original Green Acres on 29th avenue north puts out some of the best fried chicken I've ever eaten. I went on a fried chicken run through Alabama, Tennessee and Kentucky last year and Green Acres tied with Burger Boy in London, Kentucky for best of show.
 

I was amazed to see the number of "Chicken Salads" on the list from all over the state!

Through pure luck I stumbled upon this photo of the original Green Acres cafe. The first time I ate there, William Gratton, the 86 year old owner was running the flat top. Back then, perhaps 20 years ago, the joint put out one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had the pleasure of eating. Nowadays they stick to fried chicken, housecut fries and ice cold beer. That sure looks like a great Roadfood place to me!  I need to try Green Acres next time in town.
