Al-
Looks like my other buddy will be able to make it.  So put me down as three.  I hope Leonard's is bringing in an extra supply of ribs, because between, him Johnny and I, I am the smallest eater!

Honest Rick I will be weeping (cause I can't make it there), I guess I will have to enjoy fresh seafood on the white sands of Mexico Beach instead.

Cajun, I sure did enjoy MB with you last year and I am sure that you will suffer immensely while we are in Memphis but perhaps you will be in NOLA in April?

From perusing the list of scheduled attendees, I see that I'm the only "newbie" who will be present. That's kinda scary! Intimidating even! Growing up, I was always a shy kid, and I'm not sure if I've totally exorcised that part of my personality, so don't be surprised if I just sit there like a lump of clay, hardly muttering a word. LOL  Actually, I've only one thing to ask of you all.....Be gentle with me!

OK , Here's a tentative list of participants based on the comments posted somewhere in this 6 page thread. It is not meant to exclude or shut-out anyone. If you can join us in Greenville on Friday (Feb.13) let us know as soon as possible as we need to confirm a pretty solid number to the folks at DOE'S as soon s we can.

If your schedule would allow you to meet us on Saturday at Cozy Corner and/or Leonard's BBQ please get on that list also. We may have a Sunday Morning Brunch set-up  sometime soon, but at this point we are looking at Saturday in Memphis for Lunch and Dinner.

Rev Rick, and other doggie lovers,

I think Mrs Mayor has gone 'Over the Top' (or 'Round the Bend) regarding the Hawaiian outfits for the upcoming Meeting. In the mail yesterday came a small package containing three different Hawaiian Shirts for the Scotties...from a pet Supply Store.  So now , in addition to the Mayor and his Bride, the two Pets will be dressed appropriately for the events! Janet never ceases to amaze me.

BTW Demi loves her shirt, Duffy growls and is embarassed to walk around wearing it. We told him his shirt looks like the ones worn by Cousins Bushie and TTM, but so far he doesn't believe us!

That is great stuff!  Way to go Janet!  I can tell you already I plan on having my photo taken with them while they are in their Hawaiian shirts.  Hopefully, Duffy will be used to it by then.

Mayor - I did as you suggested and searched thru forums to get an idea of the kinds of things group attendees bring as door prizes, but I couldn't find a single reference to the subject anywhere ( maybe I'm doing something wrong - my computer skills are almost non-existant. ) Could you make some suggestions? Would gift certificates or giftcards from restaurants qualify? I'm in the Chicago area, so I was thinking along the lines of gift certs. from places like Hackneys, Edwardo's, Portillo's etc. What do you think?                         Bob

Bob,
Some of the Chicago stuff that has arrived at RF meets were the Bright Green Relish used in the 'Dogs' there...BBQ sauce from one of the members who lived up that way...Kolache from a Czech Bakery... Sausage... Tee Shirts and/or Hats, and cups or mugs from from RF places.
The problem with gift cards is the possibility that the receiver won't get to Chicago to use them...and National Chain cards wouldn't be a good idea !!

Here our own I-95 shows how happy he was to receive a bottle of BBQ Sauce and a bag of Hickory Wood Chips as a door prize at one of the Baltimore Crabfest Meetings--

And here Seafarer John Describes a Bottle of fine Wine that originated in his home area of New Yorks State!

Finally, Here's an example of the humor found in some of the prizes...Wandering Jew Took home this Bottle of Ale for being named "Mr. Congeniality" at the Mobile,AL Meeting last year!!

Mayor - many thanks for the suggestions, and especially for the photos. It looks like you folks have a lot of fun at these RF gatherings; I'm really looking forward to joining you all next month. WJ looks really pleased with his prize - is this a regional brand of ale?

 Bob,

There is an interesting (to some) tale about Arrogant Bastard Ale that we will share in person next month. However to answer your question...AB is brewed in San Diego,CA and sold in many 'Good' Beer outlets around the country. Poverty Pete just returned from his Holiday visit to San Diego and claims to have visited the 'Home Brewery' of this fine product. (More to follow, from him).

"Claims to have visited?"
I had an oaked Arrogant Bastard, a Ruination IPA, and finished with the classic west coast barleywine, Rogue's Old Crustacean.
Lunch consisted of a plate entitled "very soft and stinky cheeses."  That's what it takes to stand up to ales of that strength.

OK, PP, I know you made the AB stop in CA...You wouldn't pass that by under any circumstances! We'll tell him about the pour your own gallons here in Louisville when we see him in Greenville!

Here is a Door-Prize Award at the first RF meet-up we attended in SoCal in Feb 2004. Here Elise shows off her Prize of a BBQ Sauce collection from the Salt Lick BBQ near Austin TX! She hasn't changed a bit over the years !!

To All Glee Clubber's heading for Greenville and the Doe's Dinner on Friday Feb. 13th.

Here are two evening planning 'helpers' to set your mind working for that special evening.

   1. Here is a Menu from Doe's in Greenville to help orient your taste-buds- http://www.doeseatplace.com/Doe's%20Website%20Menu.pdf

   2. Note at the bottom of the menu page they announce the 'Blues Club' Beer Bar next door. Sounds like we can walk to our music after dinner. I know the neighborhood is a bit 'shakey'...Has anyone visited the neighborhood Blues Club there??? Will Hawaiian Shirts be conspicious in the crowd there?(I sure hope so!)

Greetings, fellow future attendees. After leaving Greenville and heading north towards Memphis, I'm stopping for the night in Clarksdale MS ( got a rez at Comfort Inn ), and I plan to have breakfast Sat. morning at the Blue and White restaurant in Tunica before continuing on to Memphis. Was just wondering if any of you have similar plans, especially the B & W breakfast; I'd like to have at least a couple of meal-mates there.

Personally, I would much rather have the tamales than eat at the B & W.  I have stopped there several times and it has been touch and go.  Mississippi tamales are a special treat in that part of the country.

Tamales for breakfast? There's one I've never heard of before. Whatever floats yer boat, I guess. I'm kind of ashamed to admit this, but I've never tasted a tamale in my life ( gasp! ) Except for tacos, I'm not wild about Mexican food, but I guess it's time I start broadening my culinary horizons. When we're at Doe's, I'll have to do something about my lack of familiarity with tamales. I was under the impression that the Blue & White was one the South's premier breakfast spots. What was disappointing about it?

I have visited B & W three times.  One time it was super and the other two was just mediocre.  You can do as you wish as this was only my thought.

Mississippi is known for its tamales and if I had a choice, I would do a tamale for breakfast if it was available.  It may not be.
