Missed #1 by a mile but Got # 2 Correct! Close, but no cigar!

Google knows EVERYTHING!
The State of New Mexico no longer recognizes concealed carry licenses issued by the State of Utah but currently has a written reciprocity agreement in place with Texas. New Mexico Department of Public Safety is reevaluating the status of eighteen other states currently recognized on an informal basis, with the intent of entering into written agreements with these states to ensure compliance. These states are: Alaska, Arizona, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Kentucky, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wyoming

You are a True Gentleman and a Good Sport!
But being from The Burgh, I would expect no less!
If I'm able to go, I'l buy both of you a burger, but it looks like a business obligation will keep me in AZ.
Not sure yet.

Oh, I was under the impression that you were going.  I hope it works out that you get to join us in New Mexico.  We'll get to see if you lost your Pittsburgh accent, yet!

I thought so too until something came up, that's why I delegated my responsibility to you --in case. And yes, I still know how to pronounce "Stillers"! Back in the '50s & 60's, I spent several years watching Stillers games at Forbes Field, where every seat was guaranteed to be right behind a steel girder! Bobby Lane would show up drunk as a skunk and QB a win and Big Daddy Lipscomb, a man of insatiable appetites: for women, liquor and, apparently, drugs would crush the Hated Browns!

OK, I am seriously thinking about making the trek to NM. My trajectory will be parallel to the trip but not tamp down INNIT. Are drop ins welcome? What I mean is if I'm going to Santa Fe to visit a friend, would we be able to hook up at certain points & join in on the Roadfood festivities?

Hello everybody, I'm a Roadfood n00b who has occasionally used the site to get recommendations for occasional travels. This year I was determined to go eat my way around New Mexico sometime during September, so I went to the site just to see what you guys said was on the must-eat list -- needless to say I was pleasantly surprised at the news of the NM Tour, and signed up immediately. I'm looking forward to the meeting/greeting/eating!

cheers, William

William, Welcome to Roadfood!  Glad you decided to quit lurking and jump right in.  Looking forward to meeting you on the tour.  Oh, and is Bill's Hamburgers still as good as ever?

Thanks for the quick welcome!

Is Bill's as good as ever? I honestly would say "no," but my history with Bill's goes back to the late 70s. The burgers are much bigger now and the crust-to-interior ratio is lower, and it was that maillard-crusty patty that made the burger great, imo. My fondest local burger memories aren't from Bill's, but from a place in Aberdeen called the Hamburger House, which I went to often in the mid to late 70s. Crusty and delicious like Bill's, but moreso. Sadly gone now.

I have friends and relatives who say that Country Boy Burgers, across the street from Bill's, is the better burger, but I haven't checked them out. They've only been open for 25 years or so...I'm waiting for them to settle in and for their grill to get good and seasoned.

Indian Market is a HUGE event with people having either standing reservations or have booked a year in advance. People come from all around the world for this, it's a major buying trip for those interested in Native American arts.

Ellen...did you decide?

My JOB decided FOR me, as I got turned down for my request for those extra days off (due to our 3 week "world poker tour" tourney)

...(and as it IS, I'm  probably calling  out from work from Sept. 19th-22nd, for my Austin BBQ trip....
(cuz I could'nt get those days off, either, but I can squeeze in a few call outs....)

I'll be looking forward to seeing some nice Santa Fe trip reports, though!  I will be with you in SPIRIT!

Ellen -

We'll miss you...I'll have an extra green chili cheeseburger for you at Bobcat Bite!

And if that illness should strike a little early...I can muster up an excuse for you!

Is everyone staying at the Sheraton? As much as I appreciate the arrangements made for a special rate, it looks like a budget motel and a cab ride could save me much of the cost of the day's eating.

On past trips, the group is split with about 60-70% staying at the group hotel.  I beleive anyone can stay where ever they like.

Personally, I am staying at the Sheraton.  See you in ABQ!

I really doubt you can save much money with cab rides going back and forth.

In the past, I have stayed at an off site hotel and at the recommended hotel and I much prefer the convenience of the latter.  Besides, it is always lots of fun to run into other Roadfooders in the lobby.

Cousin Johnny and I are staying at the Sheraton.

Under three weeks to go....starting my planning this weekend....it'll go something like this - fly in - eat - fly out.   Perhaps some time for sleep...maybe!
