As I sit here watching leaf after leaf falling in waves and getting ready to (yet again) get out there and move them into the borders, I wish you all a wonderful time in Warm South Carolina and lots of good food and fun.  Sadly, the boards will probably be silent this weekend as the majority of heavy posters will be chowing down.  But......just think of all the goodies we'll see reported on next week!

Charlotte is in NORTH Carolina- Just ask Obama, he knows where all 47 states and their capitols are!

Actually the tour was in South Carolina and North Carolina.

Well in my not so humble opinion :) Friday was good for one thing and one thing only. That was finding out that I don't care for eastern North Carolina barbecue. None of the barbecue we ate was to my liking. Well one slight exception, Nana's soul food kitchen. This place was right next to the hotel and it had the best food I ate Friday. The Fishcamp we ate at also was very good, too bad I didn't have much of an appetite, actually I don't think any of us really did.

Thursday and Saturday on the other hand I/we had some really excellent barbecue. Thursday WJ and I ate at Big Boys BBQ in Columbus, South Carolina. They have only been open 17 months but are doing a great job with the Q. Without doing a sitdown side-by-side comparison of the two it would be hard for me to say if I prefer them or Lexington #1 barbecue.

Big Boys gave us a sample of their hash over rice, pigs feet over rice ,ox tails over rice, and gumbo over rice. They were all excellent. We tried their chopped pork, brisket and ribs. All of it was very good or excellent. If you get down to Columbus, South Carolina be sure to try them out.

Saturday was much much better. Lexington #1 and Keegan's were really good. The chicken at Keegan's was really good especially the spicy chicken. The barbecue was tasty by itself but they put a spicy sauce on it which gave it a whole nother level of taste. I even took a pound home with me. I had it with dinner tonight.

Great 2 days, thanks and kudos to Michael and Stephen.  Great fun meeting everyone and talking about food experiences.  Gregg (with the ever present spread sheet) and his group were hitting places pre and post tour; obviously we were out of their league.  So I get home and settle down for the Giants-Dallas disappointment and what do I see?   Here is Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo reviewing Gregg's spreadsheet during the game.

Thanks for making the photos accessible to non-FBers, Stephen.

Does anyone know the approximate ratio of forum members to non-members?  I see some faces I recognize but other are unfamiliar...if you see yourself in a photo please speak up!

ChiTownDiner will be starting a trip report in the next few days, which will be a great place for everyone to post their photos and thoughts on the tour.  I can tell you it was a wonderful time, with great food and great company.  Looking forward to seeing everyone's pictures.
