25th Anniversary Roadtrip

My lovely bride and I will be celebrating our 25th tomorrow. (Aug 2nd) On Friday, we are flying to Pittsburgh to begin a very long anticipated journey. We will be renting a car and driving over the course of 9 days to places we have always wanted to see. This will also give me the grand opportunity to post my first trip report. Here is a list of the places we will be going:

1. Pittsburgh
2. Gettysburg (We will see you on Friday Chewie! Can't wait!)
3. Manassas, VA
4. Washington, DC
5. Stamford, CT
6. Portsmouth, NH
7. Burlington, VT
8. Buffalo, NY

 
We have been doing alot of research on this site and have alot of different options for food stops. The one absolute is Chubby's of course. Will hopefully post from the road and let you all know how it is going.

Happy Anniversary.  

Looks like a big circle around NYC.  We're officially a flyover city!

Actually, we are a couple of hicks from the flyover land of Minnesota, and are a bit intimidated by the Big Apple. But not to worry, we are planning on taking a shot at it in a couple of years when we have more time. 

It looks like you will be landing in Pittsburgh and immediately hitting the road.  I hope you get a chance to check out our beautiful city.

We will actually be returning to Pittsburgh for our return flight, and should have a few hours to explore.

Well, we finally got to Gettysburg. Had some Bob Evans on the way(I know,I know) then checked in at the Gettysburg Hotel (ca. 1797) which is now a Best Western. (ahh, progress...) Hit the battlefield and had a great time. The wife and I really got into it. Took some great pics and really studied the events of those days. Took longer than we planned, so we didn't make it to Chubby's. But we will be stopping tomorrow for lunch on our way to Manassas. ( Hope to see you Saturday Tom!)

...as you cross over the Potomac River and enter the Commonwealth of Virginia from the state of Maryland. (As soon as you crossover the light blue Point of Rocks bridge [MD], go another quarter of a mile and on a pull-off on your left [northbound lanes] you'll see the white pop-up tents that is Catoctin Popcorn Company and their truly addictive and made-on-site kettle corn.)

Yes we did, and we had a grand time! Still trying to catch up at work, as my back-up didn't exactly ' back-up '. Hope to get some time in the next couple days to start my report.
