28 Degrees, Yes, I Grilled!

In view of the fact that we had very little wind with bright and sunny skies, yes I had to grill the beautiful sirloin I bought yesterday. My local Kings supermarket had them on sale along with a 10% off your food order coupon in their weekly flyer. Most of my purchase yesterday went to meat. The sirloin(4 inches thick), a beautiful chuck roast(I will make Heloise's Peking Roast with it) and chicken parts(for a terriyaki marinade). Anyway, it was not as brutal as I thought grilling in 28 degrees! The end result was definately worth it!
Here's my grill all ready to cook on.

Since the grill was heated up I also threw on some brats.

Hobo Potatoes with shallots, garlic, rosemary and parsley from my herb garden. I'm so happy my rosemary, sage and lavender are still alive. The parsley is frozen and I have just been keeping on using it.

It was a nice "dead of winter" meal!

I was making potatoes and onions and kielbasa today and you got me thinking about my herbs and I found some sage, rosemary, thyme and parsley in my herb garden that was still usable, and it is now simmering with the other ingredients - thank you!!

NYPIzzaNutt, I'm glad I got you to go out and look. I was quite surprised at how usable my herbs still are. I aquired an Aerogarden using gift cards and use that for a supplemental supply of herbs. I love using them and of course the taste and health benefits.

I grill year-round as well, provided it's not too windy.

Yes, the wind is key! It has been very windy here so, no grilling. Today I lucked out!

    Agnesrob,
Just so you don't feel alone...I went thru the 'phase' of cooking out (grilling) no matter what the weather. This was about 18 years ago (1991) in Sunny Southern California!!  Here I am enjoying the Snow coming down on our desert patio as I grilled Burgers.

I am proud of my past activities, but I must admit I don't think I would do it again today !!  BTW  That Beef looks great !

Gutsy move. I might consider grilling outdoors if it ever got up to 28 degrees.

I remember the first turkey I ever tried to smoke, for Christmas dinner.  It was a very cold, snowy, and windy day in northeast MO at the time; I had a bit of a wind break at the side of the patio, but not much.

I was using one of those old bullet-type R2D2 smokers, and started it at 8:00 a.m, figuring I'd get it done and cooling before we had to go to services Christmas Eve.

    Good plan.

12 hours later (it was supposed to be done in about 8), I threw in the towel and put it into the oven to finish.  It still tasted smoked, but it was a humbling and frustrating experience....

    Looks awesome Agnes, good thread.

I grill year round, the Roanoke Times did a story last spring about getting your grill ready to cook on, I laughed. I light the grill with 5 inches of snow on the lid, it makes the neighbors crazy

I grill at least 3 times a week, rain, snow, sleet, wind, dark, light, it doesn't matter.

You cannot bring out the serving plate in cold or bad weather until the last minute though, especial the cold weather.
