Michael probably remembers also... He was right MacArthur at Inchon !! Right MH ? I did my BCT (Army Boot Camp) at Ft Ord CA in 1960. Ft Ord in mid-winter is a very nice place to go thru that experience (compared to many other locations) . MY Platoon D I was SFC Lopez, a Korean war Vet himself. I marked my 52nd anniversary of that adventure this past February

Wrong Al! Inchon was nearly two years before I enlisted in the Air Force. My Basic Training Flight Chief -- Air Force equivalent of DI at the time -- at Sampson AFB near Geneva, New York was Ernie Porter, an Airman 2nd from Somerville, Massachusetts. My favorite moment in the Air Force occurred a few years later when I saw Porter marched into the mess hall at Bergstron AFB with other stockade prisoners. I have no idea what he'd done, but I sure enjoyed the sight.
