We are coming up on the 50th for the T.A.M.I. show as well. I took it out on video and saw it for the first time last night.
I have seen out takes, and heard DJs talk about it for 50 years, and now I understand why it is an important mile stone in rock and roll.

It opens with Chuck Berry who segues into Gerry and the Pacemakers. We see Smokey Robinson lose his voice and keep going, Leslie Gore, with perfect pitch (live with no re-dos), and more greats, before James Brown came on and gave the show of his life. The Rolling Stones had to follow Mr Brown, and the experience changed them forever. The house band was the "Wrecking Crew". It is well worth the watch.....I got it from Netflix

I saw a bumper sticker last night that said: "it's not that I'm old - your music really does suck."

I was gifted with this beautifully remastered DVD (T.A.M.I. Show) as soon as it came out in 2010. It's a big part of my childhood (I saw it when I was 10 and 11 -- two different times -- in the theatre, with each brother), and I'm so happy to relive it. It's worth it to own this fabulous little piece of popular culture.

I really want that bumper sticker. I have broad tastes in old rock. Thank God for Pandora. I heard the most Gad Awful track of the beatles about a year at a convience store. It would play like one phrase of a song and then connect another with no attempt at blending. I wanna hold your handlovelovemedoyesterdaylovewassuch..... Oh geez. I had just bought some lunch and unfortunately it was way too hot to eat outside. Then they started playing a hard rock track over the beatle one. I never choked my food down so fast. I kept thinking 'I gotta get out of this place, if it's the last thing I ever do". When I got outside, I started to feel turbulence under my feet, apparently John and George were not happy about what that track did to their music." />

I messed up my story line. I should have said I felt the earth moo-oove under my feet, I saw the sky come atumbling, a tumbling, down.... At least those tracks didn't hurt my nonsense of humor.
