A Recipe Everybody Should Have

Here's a recipe that everybody should have. Especially read the very helpful ratings and reviews (and thanks to Mark Evanier for putting me on to it!)

Reason #874 why I stopped using that particular site, even though I had at least a hundred of my original and/or family recipes posted there.

A little complicated.  I'll have to try it some time when I can really concentrate on the prep steps." />

I got the impression she was ticked off at someone in her household who doesn't bother making new ice cubes after using the last cubes left in the freezer. I know I used to have to battle the kids to make ice. It was the same when they brought a car back almost out of gas.

I may need this if my automatic ice cube maker ever goes on the fritz.

You may be right, Michael. When I was a kid, we kept a communal one quart jug of ice water which we all swigged from (love me, love my cooties)! My Daddy got really annoyed when someone forgot to top it off. To this day I can hear, "If it gets to half empty, REFILL IT!

What memories, Mr. Hoffman! My Dad had a fit if we didn't fill the ice cube trays-especially when he came home after work and wanted his scotch on the rocks!

That's a good recipe once you practice it a few times.

A good one. I'll keep it right next to my "How to Boil Water" recipe.

When I was growing up, we would rinse milk cartons, fill them with water and freeze them, and then chop ice with an ice pick.

When I got married Mrs Mosca thought this was barbaric. She buys ice in bags from the grocery.

Mosca -  Growing up, we did too.  Now I freeze plastic storage containers filled with water and chip the ice on a chopping board.  I like lots of ice in my drinks and ice cubes melt too fast.

I was hesitant to make these for a party but they turned out to be a real hit with everyone, old and young alike. All night long they kept coming back for more so I guess I did it right.
    Must have been beginners luck.
Does anyone know if I can get these in cans so I don't have to use freezer space?
    :)
