A Salt and Battery on 2nd Ave closed (NYC)

I went to get my favorite chicken chunks and chips with a buttered roll (yes, my doctor smiles for his kids college fund when he hears of this place) only to find them closed for good. The staff was still in there, but it was stripped down. Not sure why they closed, but they said the other location in the West Village at 112 Greenwich Ave is still open. Just wanted to spread the word.

That explains it! I was up and down the block and was thinking...did I walk past. I'll have to make the trip to west side...

Sad to hear that they closed! Not only did they serve some awesome and authentic British fish and chips, but they were such friendly neighbors and nice people who worked there! They sure treated all us actors, performers, and artists here in the LES/ East Village with respect and smiles!

It was too expensive for what it was. And the Belgian fries across the street are about a thousand times better.

With a sickingly cute name like A Salt and Battery I'm surprised the place ever did any business - no matter how good the food was.

    cheers, John
