Abbott's: Going on the Cheap??? Sun, 07/24/05 8:27 PM (permalink)
I just went to the Abbotts in the Sav-On at the Canastota exit of the NY State Thruway, and had a disappointment. I got a waffle cone with chocolate almond custard, and it was definitely different. First of all, the taste was more like a chocolate/vanilla twist than the rich chocolate flavor I've come to expect. Secondly, the color was lighter, also as though vanilla was mixed in. Thirdly, the almonds came in fairly tasteless slices rather than the big tasty chunks I've gotten in the custard at both that location and the one down the road in Sylvan Beach.

So, has Abbott's decided to try to increase their profit margin by using cheaper ingredients? I, for one, will gladly pay $4 for a cone like the ones I've gotten from them previously, but not for a repeat of what I had today. Has anyone else noticed this?
