Actor David Carradine found dead in Bangkok

It appeared that he failed to show for dinner and was found hung in his hotel room
 
BANGKOK — Actor David Carradine, star of the 1970s TV series "Kung Fu" who also had a wide-ranging career in the movies, has been found dead in the Thai capital, Bangkok. A news report said he was found hanged in his hotel room and was believed to have committed suicide.
A spokesman for the U.S. Embassy, Michael Turner, confirmed the death of the 72-year-old actor. He said the embassy was informed by Thai authorities that Carradine died either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but he could not provide further details out of consideration for his family.
The Web site of the Thai newspaper The Nation cited unidentified police sources as saying Carradine was found Thursday hanged in his luxury hotel room.
It said Carradine was in Bangkok to shoot a movie and had been staying at the hotel since Tuesday.
The newspaper said Carradine could not be contacted after he failed to appear for a meal with the rest of the film crew on Wednesday, and that his body was found by a hotel maid at 10 a.m. Thursday morning. The name of the movie was not immediately available.
It said a preliminary police investigation found that he had hanged himself with a cord used with the room's curtains. It cited police as saying he had been dead at least 12 hours and there was no sign that he had been assaulted.

This was a man who's acting talent and career gave me gifts, and
actually taught me many things.  I loved his "Kung Fu," series,
and found many of his works wonderful and also disturbing.
He was fellow sojourner.  And I always welcomed what he offered,
but did not always accept some of his messages.  I will miss
his presence.

The cover of the NY Post today read: HUNG FU.  This from a paper that headlined, NUT: BOLTS AND SCREWS after a mental patient broke out of an institution and raped someone.  Go figure.

This is why you have a spotter when you try to do this type of stuff...

This is horrible.

Whoever penned the phrase that, "suicide is the ulimate act of self absoption" must have never considered this possiblility.

I hope the way he died will not make us forget his fine work in T.V. and films. Thanks for the memories. I see a Law and Order take on this death in the very near future.

Now they are saying neither suicide nor foul play.  It seems he had aa addiction to bizzare and dangerous sexual activities.  If anyone remembers the comic Cheech Wizard in the Lampoon, the artist Vaughn Bode hadd a similar problem and they found him in a closet after dying whilst "doing his thing".
The movie Black rain with Sean Conrad had a similar theme with the death of that american girl in the Japanese office.

Has anyone considered another possiblility? I'm suspicious by nature and like to look at other possible alternatives rather then accept the offical line especially in circumstances involving celebrities.  Perhaps it was Suicide. Bangkok has a has a vested economic interest in the promotion of film production when you really think about it. By declaring this an accident, Carradine's family/employers may have recourse with an insurance death benefit/production insurance benefit that otherwise would have been nullified with a suicide verdict. Sure this would be embarrassing to the family and to the production company, but financially rewarding. Even the local trade would benefit from the production underwriting/completion insurance. From the articles and discussions that I've read, nobody seems to question this was a 72 y/o man. Even pharmaceutically induced reptile enhancement has it's limits. Owing to the sensational and scandalous nature of the present hypothesis, it would be dificult to refute the actual cause of death after this pronouncement. Everybody would benefit and it's difficult to embarass the deceased. Carradine would find his place in history as a vigorous senior citizen that went out with a bang and not a whimper.

Probably incorrect, but nonetheless an alternative to be considered before drawing a conclusion.

I remember as a little kid back in the 70's, I used to watch Kung Fu with my older brother. 

Not to make light of his death and this horrible tragedy, but I can't get over that this was probably the most "typecast" acting family in Hollywood History...

That's pretty awful!  On a totally non-Carradine tangent, that reminds me of something I once heard was/is Wall Street's nickname for the company Pittsburgh Screw and Bolt: love 'em and leave 'em.

Whatever it was it reminds me of Michael Hutchence's death --- Hutche was one of my favorite singers.  This whole thing sounds bizzar-o.
