It's hard to remember back that far, when airlines were still giving away snacks in coach ;)

Since the airlines stopped serving anything, I now buy a bag of peanuts or candy or jerky or whatever for the trip. The larger size means more calories, which in turn causes a weight gain, which in turn sets the airlines up for the inevitable lawsuit. They should have stuck with peanuts, in fact, honey roasted.

Haven't had peanuts on a plane in years. Usually now just pretzels or snack mix with soy nuts - which aren't bad.

When you order your drink, Southwest will supply you with not only a small (but really tasty!!)bag o' nuts, but also a bag of "Plane" craxkers, small ritz tasting crackers shaped like airplanes. They are classic peanuts, salted, probably cooked in Yak oil, but they're really good! If you are really sweet to the flight attendant you can usually grovel for a few more packs!!

I seem to fly only two airlines anymore, Southwest and USAir. On Southwest, you still get peanuts (regular) just about everytime. On USAir, I typically get pretzel twists.

When I fly Southwest I like the Honey Roasted while the DH likes plain. No peanuts are given on AA. Although you can buy a snack for $3.00 or $5.00, I like free snacks...
