Today was Pre-Op testing and multiple Dr. talks day. We got thru it all and got home a short time ago (7PM) in time to watch the Derby Bed Race Competition on TV while we unwind.

We introduced Janet to a Shapiro's Deli Lunch today (Her First). She enjoyed a beautiful Reuben while I had an Onion Bagel with a ton of Smoked Salmon (LOX) and Cream cheese...with red onion, tomato slice and capers and garlic Olives all over it.
I haven't been to Shapiro's in years. It was fun to watch her appreciate the quality of the food there.
Tomorrow we prep for the ride back up to Indy for the Surgery on Wednesday. I guess I am as ready as I can be. I will post at the first convenient moment after returning home.

Thanks again for all the good thoughts. I do appreciate them.

OK, Progress report. Friday May 6th 0600
Surgery Wed Afternoon seemed to go well. During discussions after (yesterday) the Jedi-Master did tell me that he too, damaged his impliments during the surgery, but was able to use others to complete the removal of the tumor and necessary surrounding tissue. The Lab Work is underway and we should have a definite report early next week. In the meantime he thinks "We got it ALL!!!".  The guy is a Pro, that's for sure. I was very pleased at the quality of service demonstrated by the staff at IUPUI Med Center. We were released shortly after NOON yesterday (Thursday). It was a long ride home, with several pit-stops to allow the affected area to 'function'.
I got a cell-call on the way home from my FFL dealer, telling me my new (to me) rifle had arrived at his store. So we made a short side-trip at the end of the return ride, to pick up my new gun.

Last night was not real fun with some post-op spasms and often interrupted sleep. Early today things started to calm down and a reasonable interval between 'stops' seems to be developing.

Annie and Bob Peeples, our RF friends will be here this evening. We had planned to meet them at the Moonlite BBQ, but I don't think that 100 mile ride (each way) would be a good idea right now.  We will do some sight-seeing, have a HUBER's Dinner tomorrow, and watch the DERBY tomorrow evening. We appreciate our friendship with these folks and look forward to swapping stories with them later today.
MY Thanks to all who shared good thoughts and prayers in my behalf. Jan and I can honestly say we felt the influence of those feelings several times when we needed a morale boost during this treatment. Thanks to All.

Al, I'm glad the surgery is over and you're doing relatively well. Waiting for test results is stressful. As Tom Petty once said, "the waiting is the hardest part." I wish you the best in your recovery and only want to hear good things from you here on out.

MONDAY, MAY 9  UPDATE

Well the recovery continues.  It is now possible to sleep more than an hour at a time before needing a 'pit-stop'. We are up to 90 minutes or so at night, and a bit longer when doing something during the day.
Bob and Ann were here over the weekend, I wasn't the perfect host, but we had a good, low profile visit. Got to introduce them to COSTCO and then had a nice dinner at Huber's Family Farm Restaurant. The rest of the time was low-key gossip and checking out the birds and flora of Southern Indiana, with a break to watch the Derby on TV !

I should get the Lab results of the surgery in the next day or so. I hope the results show they got it all, as the Dr said after the surgery.
Now we do what we can to build a little stamina so I can move around a bit during the coming Hog Hunt.  We leave June2 and the hunt is on for June 6-7-8. Hopefully we will return with enough for the Family Picnic and 4th of July displays on July 4.  We should have a day or two to introduce  my fellow family members to Texas BBQ and to BUSHIE as well before getting to the Ranch for the hunt.
Thanks again to family and friends for the support during my recent 'crisis'

Al, do you really think you'll have the stamina to be able to spend time with Bushie so soon after your surgery? I mean, he can be tiring.

Al and Janet were great hosts. Al looks great, and I was surprised and pleased with how much stamina he had. They live in a beautiful area, and have a lovely home. Our adventures with them was a perfect ending to a very busy vacation( we were in St.Louis with my cousins and it was go, go go!) On Friday evening, Janet served a beautiful meal-she pan fried two gorgeous,1 1/2 inch porterhouses to perfection, serving them with oven browned potatoes, corn from last years crop, and a fresh green salad with all the fixins. Also, she had warm garlic infused bread.I was beat, and went to bed quite early, but Bob, Al and Janet stayed up and chatted for awhile. The scotties were so much fun being around-Bob became Demi's best friend. I had a fun adventure at Costco the next day, picking up some of the bread we had the night before. On to Hubers, for a nice chicken dinner.Their deep fried biscuits served with apple butter are to die for, and I loved the chicken. We just noshed on leftovers during the derby, and had a wonderfully relaxing weekend with them.
