UPDATE--- AND THE NEWS IS GOOD !!! I received a call from my surgeon/doctor today with the good news that the Pathology Report of the tumor and surrounding tissue they removed, apparently showed just a superficial attachement to the Bladder wall, and while it was indeed malignant Cancer, they were able to remove A L L of the bad stuff to prevent any possible spread, or further incursion. While these tumors do have histories of recurring, At least for now, I am clear. This is really great news. I'll be checking back with him later this summer to have everything looked at again, but now the Road to the Texas Hog Hunt is Clear !!!!!!

Don, Thanks for the good thoughts !!! I spoke today with the meat-guy at Green's Sausage House near Temple Texas. They make a great Jalopena Cheese pork Sausage (long links). We will drop off enough hog pieces to make 50 lbs of that sausage and have it shipped up to us here in Indiana. Bushie can testify to the quality of this sausage We have our reservations in and have done everything but pack the truck to be ready to go !!!

RE The BushMaster- We are planning to use the weekend prior to our entering the Ranch on Monday the 6th of June, for a two day Intro to Texas heritage and BBQ for my Grandson and his other Grandpa, neither of whom have been to/in Texas before. Bushie has plans to join us for some or all of the Saturday/Sunday daytrips. Historic places like City Market, Blacks BBQ, Louis Muellers, Salt Lick, Rudys, Greens Sausage House, The Czech Stop(s) in WEST and Schuelenberg...and maybe the Shiner Brewery too...are on the list. We'll show the kid the Alamo and LBJ Ranch in there somewhere. Bushie is not going to the Ranch (as of now) ! AHI- The Restaurant/Bakery/ Butcher shop takes in wild game for processing...mainly Deer and Hogs in that part of Texas. At the ranch they will skin and quarter then refrigerate whatever hogs we 'harvest'. So we then drive to the Meat Processor and leave the appropriate amount of Hog there for him to create that wonderful smoked sausage. He then packs it in dry ice and ships it to us in Indiana..It usually takes 3 or 4 days for the processing. We have to get the rest of the meat up north to where we can Process the rest of it properly. The back of my truck has 5 large coolers ready for the meat and a load of ice to keep it cool on the ride north. We anticipate 5-6 hogs in the 150 lb range for our ideal result. Here is Green's Sausage Counter in the market side of the restaurant/butcher shop. A wonderful variety of great sausages and other smoked meat products.
