Never been to Alabama, but I've heard there is a "white sauce" that they are known for to eat with grilled meats. I'd love to have an authentic recipe and ideas on how to use it.

Good luck and let me know how ya like it. Best the next day of course.

You are such a tease! I wish I could head down but I'll be knee deep in moving to New Orleans around that time. Guess which I'd rather be doing? Just the description makes me drool! Eat enough for me too will ya?

Let me know if y'all are gonna do something anytime in Sept. I'll have a window open I can float around then. I'd like to do some kind of good eating, other than that blues would be a nice option :-)

Fabulousoyster, you are so welcome. Enjoy!

Fabulousoyster - You must try the white sauce, you will love it. Great on grilled chicken and to dip your hushpuppies in.

Based on a post here and one in Google Earth, we stopped at the Green Top BBQ last weekend. The food was delicious and inexpensive. The staff was friendly and efficient. The atmosphere evoked the best of the Heart of Dixie: Nascar on the TV over the counter; white-bearded, overalled gentlemen wearing United Mine Worker baseball caps filled a booth by the window. We'll definitely stop by again.
