Alton Brown Seminar at Smithsonian Fri, 06/9/06 1:30 PM (permalink)
Alton Brown took a highway trip on his motorcycle and nows he's giving a lecture at the Smithsonian about eating on the road, in particular US Route 50. It's a part of the Resident Associate Program, which offers lectures, demos, films, concerts, etc. as a part of the Smithsonians educational outreach.

$28 for us non-members, $18 for members.

Alton Brown is my favorite on the Food Channel. I consider him to be the most expert cooking show person that there is. He is the only one I would pay to see. I wish he was in Knoxville, TN which he will never be.

Actually, I know someone who went to a reading and demo he did in Knoxville on his last book tour! Makes sense that he'd pass through -- he's based in Atlanta.

This motorcycle trip is the basis of a new series he's doing on Food Network this summer. Sound like fun.

We also really enjoy watching Alton Brown, our favorite too on the Food Network. Anyone living in the DC area should make an effort to go to the lecture at the Smithsonian.

I wish I had know that. I consider Alton the best and at least a food expert. He must spend tons of money on his demonstrations. I totally enjoy his programs.

Anyone else having problems with the link? It's not working for me.

I am sorta near DC and would consider going.

I agree with you Paul. He gives the technical aspects of cooking in a laymens terminology for whatever he is preparing in each show.
I didnt like him at first, as the very first show I saw him in was about coffee. But as I got to know the Food Network, and caught his show several different times, I have enjoyed it and learned many things. Some things I do not like or agree with, but for the most part, He is VERY informative and extremely entertaining in his display of cooking terminology.
