An Ordinary Face

I met a young couple yesterday who were visiting a neighbor. I had never seen them before My neighbor's son was a tall handsome guy and made an immediate impression, but his wife had just a sorta ordinary face. The question immediately popped into my mind-----What did he see in her? And then she smiled. I don't ever remember seeing a smile like hers, she absolutely lit up---her eyes glowed, her whole appearance changed---she melted my old heart immediately --------------she was BEAUTIFUL. It would appear she also had an inner beauty that is impossible to describe. It is amazing how much a great smile means. Without trying this young lady transformed herself in less than a second. I knew immediately what he had seen in her----it was very evident.

Well Gregg me boy-o I have to agree with you, and it's too bad you didn't meet Betsy yesterday---on a scale of #1-10 she has a #14 smiling face. It brightened up a rather dull day.

Maybe she has talents that are not seen in public.

Only saw her for a few minutes-----they were getting into the elevator I was getting out. But she made an impression. Sorry CTF never got much chance to check everything else out the elevator door almost took my nose off as it was. Now Miss Nancy I have to go to google and look up Pottenham. If it has nothing to do with football it will discarded like so many other very important bits of info. I-95---Fieldthistle had nothing to do with this --it was Sir John Barleycorn who helped write this epic post. Actually I am disappointed in this un-classy group---very little couth is shown. A few more smiles will liven and lighten up the joint.

To save y'all from wasting a lot of your precious time, and to prove we are graced with the presence of a smart lady from South Carolina---George Puttenham wrote a book about poets, poems and other English lit. back before we-all had a USA to call our own.

Over the years I have been fortunate to meet a few...a VERY few ladies who would fit your description. Each of those people have left a lasting impression on my growing elderly mind. Thanks Old-Timer for sharing a true "Unique Moment In Time !!!"

I never realized that you were a poet. Keats had his urn; you've done a different beauty. Thanks.

Stay with it , Ancient One, don't let the Philistines crimp your style. As for me, I've always been a sucker for a sweet feminine smile - "smile on me once and you own me forever". Cheers, John

"Smile on me once and you own me forever" Ain't that the truth. Thanks, John I had no intention of hurting anyone's feelings ---never heard of Puttenham and I am glad that I had not. I have a lot of trouble connecting a disgusting practice with a lovely smile------I guess I am getting old ----and I am damn glad I am. It's a far, far better place I go to than I have ever known.

Since this is a foodie group,,,,,,,,,,,,I understand that it is well known among female servers that you can give less than great service to us old farts and get away with it. All they have to do is say,"I'm sorry for the slow service" , with a big sincere smile.

Miles---Then try----sorry for the poor tip with a "big sincere smile" Yea, I think a smile is an ice breaker----- lots of sour pusses in the new England area though-----hard as nails because of the winter coming on.

This may be more information than you need to know, but I had a waitress a few years ago who was 40, great smile, all false teeth, you couldn't tell. She called out one day, said a rat had stolen and ate her teeth, I was astounded , I asked her how she knew that it was a rat, she said she saw it running away with them, then could hear the crunching in her wall as Mr. rat munched her teeth, which is more than I needed to know...true story!

CTF-- That's a great story, I am laughing out loud------Good thing the neighbors are still up in Michigan or they would think I lost it for sure. And you, you dirty RAT, I,ll get you. (Try that with a Jimmy Cagney accent).
