The post did not contain a review of your "McDouble" beyond the generic term "delightful". Would you care to elaborate on your dining experience? Ambience? any regional Specialties you passed by? Powdered creamer and Sugar/Sweetener for your coffee? AND most of all, DID YOU TIP YOUR SERVER?
Come on Michael, give us the details!
You're right. I should have been more detailed in describing my lunch experience.
The first thing I heard when I pulled up to the ordering microphone was a recorded male voice asking whether I'd like to try one of their new iced mochas (whatever they are), and when I said no thank you, another voice came on and asked me to go ahead with my order. When I placed my order for a large coffee with two creams and a McDouble with no pickles, the lovely voice said, "That will be $2.29. Please pull around to the first window."
When I got to the first window -- there are two windows at this McDonald's drive-through -- the order-taker/cashier took my $2.30 and gave me my penny change, and said, "Have a very nice day." I thanked her and then pulled up to the second window.
At the second window the person working there smiled nicely and handed me my coffee with two creams already mixed in and then the bag containing the McDouble with no pickles I'd ordered, plus three paper napkins, and said something strangely reminiscent of what I'd heard at the first window. She said, "Have a nice day." I thanked her for that, placed the coffee cup in a cupholder and the bag containing the McDouble with no pickles and three paper napkins on the floor of the passenger side of my vehicle, raised the driver side window and drove home.
I did not leave a tip as I believe adult McDonald's employees are already well enough paid.
When I arrived home I went into the house and placed the bag containing the McDouble with no pickles in the microwave (after removing the three paper napkins), setting it for ten seconds at full power, and got out a spoon to use to add sugar to my large coffee with two creams and stir. Oh, and they add a blend similar to half-and-half -- nothing powdered. The sugar I used was Domino's pure cane sugar.
I then removed the bag containing the McDouble with no pickles from the microwave oven, grabbed the coffee and the three napkins and proceeded to my office where I partook of my lunch while checking my e-mails.
The coffee, of course, was excellent, as it always is. I find McDonald's coffee to be a marvelous brew, far better than what they have at Dunkin Donuts or any of the coffee places around. I found the McDouble to be perfectly done -- juicy, flavorful, with just the right amount of chopped onions, and not even in need of the slightest bit of added salt or pepper.
All in all, it was a delightful lunch, and one I shall try again if I am ever in an area that has a McDonald's.
On the way to and from this McDonald's I did pass the Gahanna Grill, which is home to the famed Beanie Burger, and a tavern called Coaches, which purports to have great chili (they lie).
Thaks, Al, for reminding me to post this.
