I would urge everyone not to support or post on Roguefood. The guy who owns the site, Larry (Ribs) promised certain posters gifts. This was months ago and most people did not receive them. When I posted about it, he deleted my posts and then kicked me off the site.  I would urge you to not waste time posting there

Talk about an unjust barring !!  YOU are one of  the most reputable guys I've ever known, John...
I tried Roguefood a few times in the beginning, back when Debbie owned it...
She was nice...... (met her a few times on "meat ups" ...)
Got into a few good Roguefood discussions online, but not too many..
It seemed like it was mostly a copy of what was on HERE !
And like you said, not many people were logging in, and there were rarely any new members...
it seemed like the same 20 people or so...

I got bored with the site soon after that...
I did have a handful of online interactions with Larry after he bought it....  luckily, no negative ones...
just him welcoming me, stuff like that...

The one thing I TOTALLY hated was the name ROGUEFOOD !!!
I found it very irratating, cuz it was too similar to the name of THIS Roadfood site!!
WHY pick such a similar name????!!?

ANYHOW, back to HOT DOG TOUR talk !!!  Thanks , MATT , for posting those links...
cuz I had'nt noticed the tour mentioned on this "Eat & Greet" forum ....
I needed more info, and I got it!

Hope to see you again, March 13th,  Matt............it's been too long!
You, too , JOHN FOX !!

Anytime Ellen!  If I remember, I'll stop by Gary's Pickles in Middletown and bring you some fresh half sour pickles.  I'm going to bring a cooler this time so I can bring back some of Jersey's Best!

Haven't heard anything from John Sagi but the owner of Frankly Burgers mentioned that John Sagi had been in to see him recently to discuss the March 13 visit so I know its being planned.

Let's get back on track with John's original post.

Coney Island Lou suggested a car pool for the people located in Orange, Ulster and north of New York.
I am game for that.  I suggest that we meet at Coney Island Cafe or at the Harriman train station off 17?  If anyone between Kingston and Harriman needs a ride, let me know, I will be taking the thruway down from Kingston, NY and can fit three others.

I am getting out there March 2 - when are you coming back?

This is a Cheapo Cheapo tour - have 2 freebie nites at The Orleans + a $40 nite, then three nites @ the El Cortez Cabana Suites at a reasonable rate....about $250 for a weeks worth of rooms in Vegas.....

I put in an order for the weather to be in the 60's and sunny
Here is the proof of the back of the T shirt and searching for hot dog makers to sponsor the tour.

They will be adding the Date.

Yet another near miss for us, Lou ! Our flight back in on March 1st !  Actually we will be flying back from Reno, as we'll be doing 4 nights in Vegas, followed by 4 nights in Reno  ... our airline route looks like this :  PHL-LAS-RNO-PHL ...
as we'll be flying from Vegas to Reno ...
I talked my sis & my aunt & uncle into including Reno/Tahoe in our gaming week.... as they've never been there before...

Wow, Lou , our casino hotel tastes really MIRROR each others !! We are ALSO staying at the ORLEANS, for a similar type of deal, with those freebie nights mixed in !!  We usually like staying at either the Orleans or the Gold Coast , and we rent a car...
And we'll be staying at Circus Circus in Reno, where I stayed at & enjoyed in October 2009

I am NOT planning any HOT DOG adventures in Vegas !  Although my sis usually includes a Slots of Fun 99 cents hot dog into her plans !! ( too porky for my tastes, though!)  .........although they do have a few of those Vienna hot dog joints around, with those Chicago Hot Dogs .... been there, did that...

But , actually I like JERSEY HOT DOGS the best !!  Espescially those ITALIAN hot dogs !!
So,  I can't wait to see you guys again in March !!

I should have the details by next week.

If anybody is interested they can send the sizes and how many shirts they want. The more I order the cheaper the price.

Can  we try to rent a "MINI-BUS" & driver for our Central Jersey hot dog tour?  (an airport rental car shuttle , Super Shuttle bus,
perhaps?

It's so much more relaxing than car-pooling, espescially for the
driver of the carpools...!
I will gladly pay my part for gas for the carpool driver, (and even
buy you a nice double Italian Hot Dog!)...
I've got too much nervous energy to drive a carload of Roadfooders around... but my bf & I would luv to chip-in,
whatever $ it costs..

Hi Ellen,

That's a great idea! So sensible. Yep, I'd be glad to chip in for a minibus, shuttle , etc. So much more civilized, you know. Allows one to concentrate on the task at hand. Namely...eating hot dogs. My suggestion is we have the bus arrive at the first stop, as we do for the more northern, Sept. Tour.

Anyone in the Freehold area know of a bus/shuttle operator?   As Bill Murray exclaimed in the movie "Stripes" when the basketball fell out the 2nd floor window, "Little help!"

I'd be fine carpooling and driving, no problem. OTOH  I'll be driving up to Norwich Vt to the King Arthur store and then back to Maryland on Sunday. About a 12 hour drive. So I wouldn't mind chipping in for a bus if it was available.

Looking forward to this any way we decide to get there.
Allan

BTW... anyway we can merge these two threads so all the messages stay on one page.

Cool !  I am looking forward to "meating" you, Leadbelly, a new Roadfooder!!
How many can you fit in your car?  Got room for me & Ross ?

MEANWHILE, I did some online researching just now, for chartering minibuses ...
I should have 2 quotes coming to me, asap...

I saw a rate on busrates.com for $380 for a 21 person minibus, + 10% grat. for driver...
It was with TNT, out of Staten Island....
so it looks like it would be around $21 a person, assuming we even get 21 people..
or else we would have to pay a bit more...(I don't mind, but others might)

Of course, it would be wonderful to have Roadfooders with Minivans !!!!
Toyota Sequoia's , anyone?  Lincoln Navigators, anyone?

I have a little, itty bitty, Chevy Cavalier, 2 door...
mostly everyone has trouble squeezing into the car to get into my back seat... (except 90 pound Asian gals)
(and after making 4 hot dog stops, we'll all really be bulging !!)

Got a toyota corolla, fits the double wide body driver and three normal sized humans, the smallest go in the back. I don't think the back seats would be overly comfortable for long hauls but short hops should be more than ok.

The money for the bus would be okay for me but so far there are only 12 on the list and that's about 34 a head. That's kind of up there. But that 21 seater is coming from Staten Island so maybe if there is a local bus available it would be a lot more reasonable for a small group.

But if nothing else, y'all can find room in my corolla.

Tnx! You're real cool, Allan !  You're right, $34 a head may be considered "up there"....

Well, one of the companies contacting me is out of South Amboy, NJ, (central Jersey, right off Garden State Parkway), so maybe
they'll be cheaper..
of course, it's a b*tch to be the one who gets stuck collecting the money from Roadfooders for this tour...

BENZEE has been in charge of our big tours in Sept.....
I've sent my checks to his house, and I'm sure Benzee will attest that it's no picnic being the "collector", what/with no-shows,
slow pays, etc....
