I love BBQ but would much rather have the sauces on the side. I smoke things with a simple rub and serve that way.

    I agree! I will almost always eat good BBQ without the sauce. Maybe a little on the side if the meat is a bit dry.
    I am from Texas and not accustumed to eating BBQ thats been smoked "wet".

        reading both of the reviews--i got the impression that the sauce was put on by the customer and not cooked wet--one review mentions that the nsauce cqame on the side.

                  You have a couple of good ones up your way, Coffeebluff Savannah and another out in Pooler. Also, if you go down the road the road apiece there is the Georgia Pig and Choo Choo BBQ.

                    Dont forget RF's Bassrocker2 has a Q joint near Savannah,
                    (I think)--hmmm. or is it Charleston?

                          I found Angelo's to be very dissapointing on my trip there in 2005. The bbq was basically bland, no smokey taste at all. Either that,or I was comparing the place to Luling City Market in Houston from a day earlier which was probably the best Texas BBQ I ever had.

                            Angelo's is one of those institutions that are at least a stop for the history.

                            Meats will come dry,could be the coldest beer in "cowtown",and the scruffy old stuffed bear by the door seems to lend the appropriate atmosphere.

                            Yep,Luling is a different experience.
