Angry Whopper

Eh. Putting aside the fact that it is a Whopper, the flavors don't work together; sweet BBQ sauce, blooming onion bits and raw onion, bacon, cheese, fake smoke, and jalapeno, and of course Whopper. In its favor, it IS a bit tangy. File under, "I tried this so that you don't have to."

Thanks Mosca! You saved us. So they have jalapenos now? I like to tell my Whopper story about back when you could get em for 99c. I would order 2, combine all the stuff onto one set of buns, and feed the two extra buns to the birds in the parking lot. Then I watched the birds while I ate my double Whopper. Not a bad burger for 2 bucks. And... the birds liked me. :~) Joe It was a happy meal back then.

My kid had a post-game get together last week and a bunch of his 7 year old pals went to the local burger king, so I had to cart him there. I had the Angry Whopper and was angry I had paid for such a lousy meal. I figured that was reason for name.

Sounds like the Angry Burger is just what I thought it would be, another one of Burger King's futile attempts to "reinvent" the hamburger. I sure won't be trying it. Thirty years ago, I really loved BK, as well as McDonald's and KFC; the food actually tasted pretty good back then. Since the late ' 70s, though, the food at virtually every big FF chain has deteriorated to where it's barely edible. Wendy's is still fairly decent; once in a while I'll grab a hamburger and some chili there if I'm looking for a cheap / quick lunch. But the others... forget it. Same goes for Taco Bell; of course they never were any good. If you're going to eat fast food, you're probably better off sticking with the small regional chains; they tend to have better food than the national giants. There are exceptions to that "rule" though - I recently had my first AND last meal at Del Taco. I couldn't believe it; it was worse than Taco Bell!

The Whaler was a good fast food fish sandwich. I'd forgotten about it as well. As for the Angry Whopper, I'll stick to the regular Whopper. Andrea

Miami Don, I should have mentioned. The very first thing I noticed was that it didn't look like that. It didn't make me angry. It made me feel stupid, for thinking that it was going to be better. I have nothing against fast food burgers, btw. This just isn't a very good one. It could be; it's just trying too hard. Skip the bacon and the bbq sauce, and the raw onion. Make it a whopper with pepper jack, fried onions, and jalapenos. That would actually be pretty decent, I think.

Just another attempt to take food out of the mouths of McDonald's franchisees. Fueled by a "low-road" viral marketing campaign, BK just wants you to try their new burger because it keeps you from going to McDonald's (which are usually near every Burger King) that day. Bringing out these limited-time specials is a now old time-tested technique to give a quick one-shot boost to a FF company's bottom line. People will try it out of curiousity. The product doesn't have to be good, it just can not be so bad people will demand their money back. I am now on to these people. If I want to try their limited-time offering, I will always go inside and eat it there. I will take one bite. If I do not like it, I will exchange it for one of their signature items. They got my business that day, but I do not get "Angry" for I have not wasted my money. They get to "eat" the return, however.

MiamiDon If they do not serve one like this, should the customer get angry? Print out this photo on a color printer. Give to your order taker and tell to give same to sandwich maker. Refuse all sandwiches given if they don't match the picture. This works best in drive-thru; the bigger the line behind you the better. Don't budge an inch until they deliver what they advertise. When sandwich finally is 100% correct now tell order taker your french fries have expired their selling limit and you need some more cooked-to-order hot fries. Cut your car off and wait...

Adj, I actually thought about taking that picture in... when I first saw Don's post. My thought was to go inside though. Be careful in the drive-thru. There have been drive-thru rage incidents you know. Keep an eye out behind you! :~) Joe

Adjudicator drpep In case no one has seen this site yet: http://www.thewvsr.com/adsvsreality.htm That site has made it's rounds here. Despite that we can always use a reminder. actually, some photos weren't THAT far off - others, not so much. the burritos and KFC bowl were the worst offenders, but on the McMuffin, the real pic of the muffin was more appealing to me than advertized the food photo. In the ad photo, no nooks and cranies, but they were there in the real photo. anyway, fast food, is well, fast. not necessarily eye appealing. For that, find a nice sit down restaurant and give them time to serve it after ithe ffod has been given its proper attention.

after i saw the commercial i think it would be cool if they called it the hate whopper or something along those lines after all, it seems like everyone hates it. it would be kind of funny to ask for it too..."give me your most hateful whopper please"

About a month ago, I saw a poster advertising this new product at a BK in South Jersey. At the time, my first thought was...What a stupid name for a food product. After hearing the reactions of those who sampled this thing, maybe it really was an appropriate name.

Sitting around the table, discussing components of menu items, can get tedious. I think that is why we see so many odd selections, these days. Some snarky person will usually make some suggestions, and wait for the laughter. "Oh, why don't we put sweet and fake smoky barbecue sauce, two (count em') types of onions, and cheese, and bacon and jalepenos, and call it a GD ANGRY WHOPPER?" But wait! No laughter!! Oh damn!! Clap, clap, clap!! Well, ok we may want to drop the GD!! Bonus money!

Once every half-decade or so a Burger King product ad draws me into the establishment. Each time I am disappointed. And yes, I am aware of the definition of "insanity", but I am at heart an optimist - after all, my fourth marriage is going on nine years and is better than ever! Just as I finally found a woman who was not a drunk, a controlling bit*h, or requiring psychiatric institutionalization, I was hoping that Burger King would come up with a truly tasty and digestible specialty sandwich. So Mosca, thank you for "taking the bullet" for me this time!

Last summer I made the mistake of trying one of Wendy's short-lived "specialty" burgers. I can't remember its' name or, other than bacon, the ingredients that made it so "special", but what I do remember is that it stank to high heaven. The bacon tasted awful; it didn't come from any pig that I want to eat! A total waste of my time and money. At least Wendy's standard burgers are still decent, especially compared to the junk at McDonald's and Burger King. It's this kind of nonsense that compels me to make an hour-long drive to get a big, beautiful Hackneyburger in Palos Park.

Metro - They have a knack of making their "newest creations" look so appetizing on television. They do a lot of promotion, but it all comes back to the same thing in the end....... In a pinch, I will choose their burger over McDonald's just because of the cooking process. I always ask for the Whopper "fresh off the broiler" so I'm not getting one that they are keeping in that heated drawer. It helps..a little. Their newest "creations" are usually their most expensive menu offerings. I just can't see spending any more than what the cost of a Whopper is at BK.
