My wife, the lovely Laura, spent several years in Spain while a college student. While there she became very fond of Angullas, (basically baby eels). Doing a "Google" search I found one Tapas Bar in NYC that serves them (for $75.00 no less). Does anyone know of any place on the east coast, preferably Maryland or Virginia that also serves these delicassies or perhaps sells them for home preparation? BB

BB An Asian market that I go to often has eels............it is at the corner of Rt 40 and Rolling Road Off 695 --- Baltimore) and their fish is so very fresh and the best that you can get in this area.

Chez, Thanks. That's the Korean Market in Catonsville. I've been there along with the one at 40 and 29. Neither had Angullas. We have two Spanish stores in Annapolis and neither of them can get them. PeachPie9, will you eat caviar or escargot. BB

BakersBoy: I love angullas also but they are seasonal and so expensive (I've had them for $50 and that is probably the last time I have them unless I'm in Spain). You can get them mail-order but you have to be careful because there was this scam about getting fake eels from Mexico. There is the shore the Spanish Table who can probably point you in the right direction. Peachpie9: If you ever have the chance you should try angullas because they are so small that there is no squeam factor; like eating short spaghetti only they have two little dots on them which are their eyes.

I have never tried them, but I would like to. I have wanted to go to a place near me that serves them. It is about 25 miles from my house. http://www.casajuancho.com/menu.cfm I just noticed there is no price next to the item.
