Another motorbike trip......

A friend and I are riding to Memphis, leaving tomorrow at 6AM from Northern Va. Taking Route 50 to Chillicothe, OH the first day, with a stop in Clarksburg, WV for lunch with Tony at Lou's Tresorrela...mmmmm I can almost taste the Sausage Sandwich as I type this. I think we'll get a Steak Sandwich too and split it!!! Wanted to the last time I was at Tony's, but just had to have the Sausage instead. Second day we head to Bowling Green, KY with a stop in Lexington for lunch at Billy's....the Mutton Platter is calling me! Plan on seeing the Corvette museum and eating BBQ at the place Alton Brown did in Bowling Green, thinly sliced pork steak cooked over a hot oak fire. From Bowling Green we head to Paris, TN. Third day we head to Memphis.....will be there for three days. No plan for the return trip home we need to be back by 5/5, will most likely go where the road takes us...will post pictures and reviews of all the Roadfood we encounter when I get back!!

Sounds like a fun trip. I can't wait to see the pics and commentary. Motor safely.

If you are planning to eat in Chilicothe I have a couple of good spots. Jerry's on Paint St has good pizza. It has a thin crispy crust that legend has it contains Cheese-Its for flavor. Also for donuts, do not miss Crispie Cream (not affiliated with the national chain) for the best glazed donuts.

Great to hear! Don't you have a Fat Bob? Did you ever do your western trip as planned last year? I remember you posting about some adventure and I responded....I'm way overdue for my next trip. Will probably do my Rocky Mountain loop again...MN, SD, WY, MT, UT, CO, NM. You have a safe trip...mutton 'cue is on my next to try list.PS...50 west across VA, WVA, MD, and into OH is a great road. Ever notice though the poverty in some of the stretches? I always feel so fortunate just riding through there.

Make time to pull your scooters off the road at Clifty Farm in Paris, Tn. Great country ham!

If your trip was just a few weeks later, after you got to Memphis you could glide a few short miles down to Tunica and get the highly touted Paula Deen buffet at Harrah's.

Well, I'm back. Didn't take a whole lot of pictures of the food, have several of the Corvette museum in Bowling Green, and some of the nightlife on Beale St. We did have a chance to try the Smokey Pig in Bowling Green and I have to say I am a big fan of Monroe County style Q, especially the shoulder. Just getting back into the office, I'll try and give more details when I have a chance. I will say that I found Beale St. to be way to touristy for my tastes. The ribs at the Rendezvous have to be at the top of my list, although not true BBQ, they were fantastic! EDIT: Lou's Tresorrela in Clarksburg, WV is closed, so no sausage this trip, it's been replaced by a pizza joint called Old Naples Pizza, although I was dissapointed I have to say the pizza is excellent.
