Question: What is a Hokie? And when did Va-Tech change from the Gobblers? And why?

This is not road food, but if you want a very good meal. Got to the Farmhouse. Reservations are a must on football weekends.
Michael, a Hokie is just a nick name. Much like the Wahoos of UVA, who where once the Cavaliers.

Last time I was in the 'burg, I went to a great place called Gilly's. If its still there, its right in the center of town and very well known for its huge breakfasts. I had something called the Red Earth, which was a huge plate of eggs, sausage and red potatoes. I was treated very well, mostly because, outnumbered, I did not display my UVa colors.

The last I heard, and it was just a couple of days ago, the Cavaliers were still the Cavaliers, according to ESPN. Now, I know what a wahoo is. It's a member of the mackerel family.

The 1999 editon of ROADFOOD lists Stone's Cafeteria in Christiansburg (just a few miles from Blacksburg and close to I 81). Stone's is definitely a Roadfood kind of place.

I've had lunch there twice in recent years, and really enjoyed their southern style food. The food is homestyle and seasoned. I think most Roadfood fans would find something to like. Stone's is inexpensive.

Stone's Cafeteria in nearby Christiansburg is, indeed, the place. However, don't overlook Blacksburg's famed Hokie House for a cheap (is there any other?) beer. Hokie, Hokie High!

I don't think you guys get the joke about Wahoos...these are fish that according to legend drink ten times their weight. Get it? Go Hoos!

It's a big game in Blacksburg this Saturday, 11/27, between Virginia and Virginia Tech. It's big for the ACC as well as for national standings.

Over in Roanoke, have breakfast at The Roanoker It's real roadfood.

Here's the Breakfast Menu The biscuits are made from scratch.

                    Mmmmm good.

There is a bar in downtown Radford that has pretty good food. Can't remember the name but it is an Irish sounding name. great seafood and steak specials.
