I don't know that I hate the Yankees. They are kind of a microcosm of baseball- the talent, high level of achievement that makes the game exciting, and at the same time representative of the money that creates uneven competition, that allows them to purchase an abundance of talent and dominate through financial advantage. We shouldn't be surprised when they come back from deficits or crush other teams. We are surprised when they lose. Whenever the Yankees are in the playoffs, no matter who they play, it's always a David vs. Goliath scenario, and very few people would typically cheer for Goliath. I'm not angry that they won, just numb (it's not like their wins are inspiring since they are expected), and a little bummed out that the season is over.

As a long time certified Yankee hater, I've got to say this 2009 team is a great ball club. They make their own "luck", they take full advantage of every "lucky break", they perform in the clutch, and they never give up. And they've got a fine manager, a front office willing and able to spend big bucks to get the best, and the least said about Steinbrenner the better. Cheers, John

GO GO GOZILLA That summed up last night's game! I'm just gloating Living among a sea of Yankee haters here in Red Sox Nation, life is sweet right now. I'll be looking forward to my free cup of french roast coffee at the local coffee house tommorow courtesy of my co-worker who lost the bet!

baseball has succeeded in killing my interest in a game I have played and followed since childhood. Irrelevant is the word that now comes to mind.

Lest I be misunderstood: I'm in Bill Voss' corner when it come to all professional sports. There's too damn much money, too much publicity, too many prima donnas, too much fakery, too may Steinbrenners, too much control by the TV bosses, ... I'm a Mets fan (like a lot of people, when the Giants left NYC I was devastated until I found the Mets in their "miracle season" so many many years ago). Now I only watch or pay any attention to them occasionally. But I still always root for the National League team in the World Series. I can still appreciate a great ball club when I see one no matter what leaue they are in. Cheers, John
