That yappy Ronan Tynan got himself in trouble. God Bless America on a harmonica would be lovely. Unless Mr. Linz got himself in trouble with his harmonica or traded his wife or something. Those "classy" Yankees. I will go look it up!

leethebard I'll be ready for spring training!! and get chatty around playoff time if the Yankees make it? We need a daily Yankee report from pitchers and catchers on. Good & bad happy and sad. Too easy for the Yankee fans to start the chatter in Oct. The collective tear noise from the tags of new apparel here....is loud. A sea of blue & new.

Congrats to the Yanks. They were the best team this year. I hope they have to wait a while for number 28.

"The Yankees won the World Series and all is right with the world again,” said team president Randy Levine.

“The Yankees won the World Series,” team president Randy Levine said, “and all is right with the world again.” Although he could’ve chosen words a little less, well, embarrassingly obnoxious, Levine’s point rang true because it’s surprising that a team so endowed (with revenue, with fans, with history and, most of all, with talent) could go nine years between World Series victories and six years between appearances. That’s not happening again, not anytime soon. The landscape is shifting, the chasm widening, baseball beginning its descent toward a place it can’t afford to go long term. The consequences are playing themselves out, and right into the hands of the New York Yankees, who are poised to start the next decade just as they did this one: with a championship." http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news;_ylt=AlC30yG4eW0OvCVM_eOjDgQ5nYcB?slug=jp-yankees110609&prov=yhoo&type=lgns

saps Roadfood- For Yankees updates on the hour every hour. This thread was on the "off topic" forum and titled "Any Yankee Fans out there" and intended for Yankee fans to talk about the post season...if we Yankee fans were left to talk post-season baseball ,it would have been shortened by pages and pages...by rough count, Mr. Saps alone contributed 50 posts, usually anti Yankee. You could have left us Yankee fans alone, perhaps started a negative Yankee thread. I'd leave that one alone. Anyway, I didn't intend to bring out hate, or even "dislike" mail...just to talk the playoffs with like minded Yankee fans,,,but we sure brought the Yankee haters out of the wood work...and ,of course, a true fan will certainly defend his team......so to all you who think this thread is over...fine ...let it be...the World Champs will see you in about 5 months as we set out to defend our title.....any lasts cracks about money to make....perhaps post 51?????

leethebard but NONE in professional sports have the history, tradition or pride the Yankees have Oh no? How about the Red Sox, who WISELY refuse to change the Big Green Monster, site of more baseball games than any other stadium, the Cubbies, better known as the oldest continuously playing team in all professional sport, and the denizens of the stadium that hosted more professional football games than any other, or the Cinncinnatti Reds, also known as the ORIGINAL professional baseball team, and the home of a man who belongs in the Hall of Fame more than anyone who's not currently there, Peter Edward Rose? The Cubs tradition reaches across league boundaries. The White Sox were named after the Cubs, who weren't always the Cubs, but were the White Stockings about 30 years before the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club was even conceived, and the Chicago Bears were, in an offhand way, also named after the Cubs when George S. Halas commented, "If you're the Cubs, I guess that makes us the Bears." History and tradition are a way of life in Chicago.

Tony Bad Nope, plenty of Yankee fans in Boston...just like there are plenty of Sox fans in NY...even more since their recent successes. Sounds like you're admitting that New Yorkers are fickle fans.

saps Bernie Williams was always a player that I really liked. I'll take Billy Williams any time. You can have Leo Durocher back, though.

NYPIzzaNut The Yankees have been tainted every since Steinbrenner bought them. Longer than that. Check out Babe Ruth's statistics since 1920, when he left Boston. Note the princly sum of 35 home runs in 1925, leading to the record of 60 in 1927. Okay, he had a tummy ache in 1925, so let's go with the even more princely sum of 46 homers in 1926. I wonder what sort of amphetamine he was ingesting to get those numbers up?

GNeedles59 You kind of have to in order to make sense of a post Mets game locker room interview. They learned that from the 1960 Pirates, who beat the Yankees in the series despite being outscored 55-27, even after getting shut out TWICE.
