No doubt the Yankees are a great team. But they should be with the payroll they have. Same old same old. Yankees bought Sabathia from the Brewers. Who will they buy next with the unlimited payroll? This is why I'm not a big baseball fan. If they change the structure, maybe I'll watch more. In the meantime: Go Packers and the NFL!!!!!

Yes...and one super pitcher....now we're ONE win away from the pennant...and C.C. was amazing...striking out Angels into the 8th with a Fast Ball still at 95 mph...Crappy refs again...bad calls for both sides...but the score was a romp anyway!!!!!

Man you're tellin' me! What was going on with those umps? In all fairness they were pretty crappy on both sides so it didn't affect the outcome but come on....you'd think that at this level (the LCS) that they'd had the best guys out there. That one with Posada and Cano on third was the most stunning and obviously call. ...and C.C....that boy is just awesome right now! Can't wait to see him in Game 1

Make it several hundred for each pitch. I respect the Yankees organization and they play in the playing field that is what it is. But until some sort of bargaining agreement is made, Yankees fans can continue to toot their own horns but the rest of the country isn't listening. The old "look at us...aren't we great" gets old to fans from places like Kansas City, Milwaukee, Seattle etc etc.... It boils down to we have the biggest media market so we can afford the most. Look at the payroll folks....that explains it ALL! Funny because Bud is from my hometown Milwaukee and has not done a damn thing to change it. That is how inept MLB is. So you Yankees fans continue to enjoy your championships in private. The rest of the country isn't listening.

Please. The Royals suck because David Glass runs the team like he ran Wal-Mart. As long as he gets his revenue sharing and the rubes, oops, fans, continue to pay major league prices to watch AA level ball at the "K", they'll never improve. The Royals are the best reason I can think of to bring relegation like they have in soccer to MLB.

The Yankee bashers have harped on the current facts of the team using its revenues to "buy" their way to the World Series, but have conveniently forgot that the majority of the team's championships were won in the days before free agency. They got it done with a better farm system & shrewder trades than the other teams. A Mets fan

A Mets fan Uh, this thread is kind of about the current Yankees, which is probably why we are harping "on the current facts of the team using its revenues to "buy" their way to the World Series...". Their history really isn't relevant here, but I think a few people (including myself) have commented on their rich tradition including Ruth, Gehrig, and Mantle. I don't think anyone is "conveniently forgetting". It's just not a part of the conversation of the Yankees since free agency. Now, back to the "8-team tournament to see who gets to lose to the Yankees."

A Mets fan Yeah, I remember back in the late 50's and early 60's when one of their "farm teams" was the Kansas City Athletics. That used to drive my father (a Dodger fan) absolutely nuts. pb

A sensational game last night. Brian Fuentes may well be the worst good closer in baseball and he certainly took it to the limit in the save last night. I still think the Yankees will win but least it is a series now.

mr chips Brian Fuentes may well be the worst good closer in baseball and he certainly took it to the limit in the save last night. Somehow he led MLB with 48 saves (7 blown) while compiling an ERA of nearly 4, which is a pretty odd combination. A couple of big-time meltdowns skewing the number, perhaps? Makes me wonder how that compares to the ERAs of other pitchers in their 40-save seasons. I know what Angels fans are going through. I listened to plenty of White Sox broadcasts this year when Bobby Jenks, who is apparently allergic to the 1-2-3 inning, pitched. Brad

If the Angels win tomorrow it's likely a big help to the Phillies regardless of who wins Sunday. The Yankees are trying to get by with a 3-man rotation and if Sabathia has to pitch game 7 he'd probably only get 2 starts in the Series, which might even force Girardi to find a 4th starter for a game. This could get interesting... Brad
