You're right.  That's a good analogy if you can't discern between apples and oranges.  Other than that, it's nonsensical.

That's about right.

You go ahead and enjoy Ruth and Gehrig.  That 1907 Cubs team had legends such as Heinie Zimmerman and Orval Overall (not kidding).

Rain is coming down pretty hard here.  I am only 20 miles from NYC.  Hopefully the game can be played.

Weather could be a real factor in the Series this year.  Hopefully playing in the wet and cold won't diminish the quality too much.

Bring back doubleheaders on Sundays and holidays so baseball ends earlier!

The players' union and TV networks probably wouldn't be too fond of that idea...

I thought this was kind of a cool little baseball article, a type of "behind the scenes" item that you really don't think about.  Don't worry- it's not anti-yankee or anything else.  Just a little bit of history.

I doubt the players would have a problem. The owners would be the ones shouting bloody murder.

Which team do you think more people are rooting for across the country? I'm an hour west of Philly so obviously my area favors the Phillies.Great starting pitching last night,by both pitchers. Except for Utleys homers,Sabathia and Cliff Lee were dominating.Go Phils!

No doubt the Yankees are a great team.  But they should be with the payroll they have. Same old same old.  Yankees bought Sabathia from the Brewers.  Who will they buy next with the unlimited payroll?

Uhh, check your facts.  Sabathia was a free agent.

Uhhh, The facts are that the brewers could not afford to match what your high dollar team was willing to offer him. Could it possibly be that money played into that role? Why would anybody let him get away idiot?

Why can't you people just accept that the current structure is what wrecked mlb?  Just do a search on MLB team payrolls....

I completely respect the history of the Yankees but the structure of the league has changed quite a bit since Babe swung a bat. Do you want the rest of the country to join in or do you want to stay an arrogant jack ass?

Now see, as a packer fan, I could be the same jackass as you when it comes to football but you baseball yankee fans would never get it.

Oh and Leethebard, what was that payroll structure like 55 years ago?  Or for the many more championships won by the Yankees before you were a fan?

Having a heated debate is one thing.  Throwing baseless insults is something else.  Please grow up.

I apologize for the insult.

What I am having a hard time understanding is all of you folks throwing out the capitalism is at work and hey we are great and it's too bad you don't have the money like we do argument.

Wouldn't you be more proud that your team beat others on a level playing field?  If we all said the hell with everyone who lives in an area that has less people, the yankees will be the only team in the nation.  It's like saying "hey, you should all be yankees fans!"  So who are the Yankees going to play when nobody is left in the league and everyone loses interest in the sport?  Like I said, take a lesson from the NFL.

This is shaping up to be a great matchup...one up after tonight...interesting... the big guns Arod and Howard each went 0-4!!! Hope the Yankees keep it up...It'll be tough in Philly. Again, a few missed calls, going against both teams!

Glad we won, but Girardi should have had AJ pitch the 8th, or at least until he looked like he didn't have it anymore. I'm not counting on the middle relief, and asking more than four outs from Mo is going to the golden goose a bit too much.

Philly, the defending world champs, has a great team. Fasten your seat belts. The Yanks in 7.

Burnett was up to 108 pitches.  Needing him to come back Monday on short rest  so Chad Gaudin does not have to pitch means taking him out with the lead at that point.

True, middle relief for them isn't lately what it was during the summer....puts the burden on three guys doesn't it? Well, we can all use the day off!!!!

I must say the Phillies have been impressive...I thought we might have had an easier go at it. I'm certainly glad we pulled a W. I hear you on the hitters...let's hope a day off gets those bats going. Either way...

Wow! Those fans should be able to come up with a new phrase by now. Really. It has been a few. Pedro did a great job.

What happened to Joba rules and Joba time? Jaba Jaba Jaba.

Does Joba still have a job? See now that would be a cool sign. I need to put that on a t-shirt.

Yankee fans to Arod. Hey Arod....Cowboy up Bro!
