South of Springfield on Rt 68 is Youngs Jersey Dairy. The food is good, not great, but OH the Ice Cream. Open year round, but in the summer when fresh vegies are around is best.

I can think of 2 places to try / Mike and Rosies deli has great soups and of course sandwiches and subs , they heat the sandwiches and subs with steam so they are served hot. They are near the North side of the Wittenberg u. campus. Also is the Hickory inn for a pizza made with whole wheat crust! There is alot of local color also at the inn.

I stopped at a great little ma and pa bakery last time I was here. Right on Main St. and seemed to be well patronized by the locals. I bought some donuts but was disappointed to find they didn't sell milk, or coffee. Go figure. But hey, the pastry was really good, I just can't remember the name of it.

Carlton, I think I stopped at the bakery you are talking about. If so, it was in a older building and appeared to have been a bakery for many years. It was white and I think it was a two story. Great French cruellers. Definately some artistry there. I also had dinner at a place north of town that wa first class and a little pricey. Great ambiance with a neat view of the landscaping in the rear. It was out in the country. I started a business in Springfield about three years ago and spent many weeks there. Paul E. Did you try The Frying Dutchman for seafood? How about Moe's for a "Flaming Moe?" A Krusty Burger?
