Anybody burned? Mon, 04/10/06 2:05 AM (permalink)
Hey everybody,

This forum is packed with great information.

I'm new here and I'm gathering info to see if working a hot dog cart would be up my ally. (Be Nice!)

Looks like the bigest expense will be a cart, so I would appriciate your input as to the following information I've picked up from this forum and the internet.

I see where lots of you think the model 325 made by Creative Mobile System is the Cadillac of vending carts. During my internet research I found a company, Vending Carts Inc., that insulates the hooie out of their carts and claim that carts that are'nt insulated are subject to overheat the cooler box and/or burn unfortunate people who touch the cart. I'm sure most of this is hype, but I wonder if anyone out there has been burned or maybe even owns a cart made by Vending Carts Inc.

The URL for Vending Carts Inc. is;
http://www.hotdogscart.com/

The URL pertaining to the insulation is; http://www.hotdogscart.com/faqs.htm

Thanks
lfplt

    I purchased my cart from Vending Carts/Hot Dog Carts when they were known as Quality Street Carts in California. I own the Wisconsin model. You can look at pictures of my cart on their current site. I ordered the cart in April and was assured a two week delivery. It didn't arrive until July and this was after the owner was contacted by my lawyer. In reference to being burned; the cool box on the opposite side of the sink is worthless. It's directly next to a heat source and should be redefined as a "hot box". Any time a customer touches the top of the cart(the high section in the center), they're immediately burned. I had to replumb the cart 4 times. A friend ordered the identical cart and experienced many electrical problems. He had similar delivery issues too. He finally got his cart delivered by having the police pay the manufacturer a visit. They're willing to take your money. Then, they don't respond to calls or e-mail. Check the BBB website. Read their history(Quality Street Carts-California). The 17 complaints don't include our two carts from Wisconsin.

      Under the "Restaurant Professional Forum" you will find a wealth of information. Many of your questions pertaining to health, wealth and welfare will be discussed. I believe there are about nine pages of discussions. Many of them pertain to the hot dog business.

      Many on this forum are experts including Chicago Style Dog.

      good luck!!
