Anybody remember these? Sun, 08/1/04 12:00 PM (permalink)
What were those things that you put in a glass of water and they'd fizz and flavor it like cola, etc? Anybody remember those from their childhood?

Fizzies, I used to live on those.

My wife tells me that someone tried to resuurect those a few years ago, but they never caught on.

I think bottled sodas use to be more of an expensive treat. For one thing, they came only in those small old "coke" bottles (6 oz or so)--not really much of a drink if you were really thirsty. Most families in my neighborhood relied on other, cheaper drinks for the kids to guzzle all summer--mostly Kool-Aid and, when they came along, fizzies. And this had the bonus of giving me easy access to Kool-Aid straight out of the package (unmixed with water). I used to open a package and lick it--yum!
