Anyone tried Oreo Cakesters?

Hi Everyone!

I was wondering if anyone has tried Oreo Cakesters yet? I've been curious but haven't quite brought myself to buy them yet...I am assuming that they are just whoopie pies...does Oreo really think they have something new here?

If they do taste much like whoopie pies I would imagine it would be cheaper to just buy the fresh ones at a bakery.

Anyone?

I just saw a commercial for them for the first time today, and was intrigued. Am going to look for them at the grocery store.

I was handed one as a free sample at our local grocery store. It looks like a mini whoopie pie. Tastes ok but I would have a whoopie pie given the choice.

Well, we don't have whoopie pies in Nebraska, and by the time Cakesters get here I will probably be dead of old age, but they sound good to me!

I think that they are good. My wife bought a box of them at the commissary on MacDill AFB. My grandaughter and I shared the whole box.

I had some the other day. Not good, imo. They taste a little like Snackwell Devil's Food Cake snacks. And those aren't good either.

We got a box the other day at WM. Today my son gets home from school and opens one, took a bite out of it, ran to the trash can spit it out and asked if we had any REAL oreos.

I sampled a bite and I agree with ocdreamer too sweet.

I guess it is back to double stuff oreos and ice cold milk for afternoon snack tomorrow.

Cakesters are okay but waaaaaay overpriced. A packet of three costs about the same as a big box of the Little Debbie snacks they imitate. They are also smaller.

On the other hand, eating a three-pack of Cakesters with strawberry milk at 3 am at the conclusion of a 9 hour shift... that was pretty good!

I don't really like them. I thought they would be more like oreo filling with cake, but the cake is dry and I can't even describe what the filling tastes like. Does anyone remember the big overstuffed oreo's? They were like 3 inches across and the filling was about an inch high. Those were good! Thay need to bring those back. I think they were out in the late 80's or 90's. That's what I thought cakesters would be like, maybe that's why I was dissapointed with them.

Tried them yesterday and... yuck. No thanks. Give me a real Oreo or a real whoopie pie any day... but not some overprocessed prepackaged thing that seems to be the offspring of the two.

The only time I saw them prior to this was when Jay Leno abused them (threw them around) on The Tonight Show around a month ago. They looked like second-rate whoopi pies to me. And I live in Maine where Whoopi pies rule--homemade ones are sold at just about every convenience store, even gas stations (it's a Maine thing, I think), so why buy the overprocessed, overpriced imitation?

Don't mind me, I'm still trying to figure out the relevance between Oreo Cakesters and Roadfood. But, hey that's just me!
