Anyone use any cookbook software?? Thu, 10/14/10 4:46 PM (permalink)
Not sure if it is worth purchasing some cookbook software just to stay organized a bite. If anyone is using any that are good, or maybe has any ideas for things to look for in a software let me know.

I have the same question. I wanted something to make it easier to write up recipes for a family cook book I'm making. I saw a box that said it was for writing cookbooks at Best Buy, but now they have never heard of it and I can't find anything similar anywhere.

I just write up my recipes in Word and save them to the appropriate folders.

This way if I make chicken enchiladas I can save the recipe both in the Mexican and the chicken folders.

When I want to make a dish, I simply print out the recipe.

When I want to give my recipe collection as a gift, I copy it on to a memory stick being as selective as I want in what I include and the memory stick is the gift.

That's the way I do it too. My recipes are so organized, It's Scary!
Last Christmas, I printed out all our Kids favorites and my Bride put them in binders and gave them to them. Never thought about putting them on "Sticks". Great Idea Mar! When it comes to technology, I'm roaring into the 19th Century!

I sit in front of the computer at work the majority of the day so everything is there.  I save it to the stick and bring it home to transfer to my home computers.

That way I have them in 3 places.

This brings back memories. Back in the 1980's, one of the early pieces of shareware was a recipe book called "Meal Master". It was sufficiently popular that recipes posted on BBS's (remember those?) were almost always posted in Meal Master format. It seems to have been replaced by a piece of shareware (well, technically demoware, as there is a time-out) called Cookbook Wizard (at http://www.mealmaster.com/). I note that tucows.com only gives it "3 cows", though.
