Fred, Mamaw Smith who resides next door makes spoonbread quite often.  Apparently it was a regular part of their diet when she was growing up in Tazewell, TN during the 20,s and 30,s.  I still enjoy it when she makes it along with some sausage gravy or whatever.

The next time I am traveling up I-81 I will stop by and enjoy these treats.

    Thanks

I didn't realize that is where peanut soup originated.  I've been making it since the early 70's ( close recipe) And Spponbread too from about that time.  My peanut soup always amazes first time tasters........."Wow.you can do this?....It's good!"
