Just wanted to report that the apple pies at the Apple Barn in Gatlinburg are just as good as ever! In fact, we introduced my oldest son to them and he had to take a pack home for his family. Now they are hooked also.

I am a fan of the Apple Barn and every time I am in Pigeon Forge, I always pick up a half dozen of those fried pies to go and have one with there with ice cream and coffee.

they have a very pretty campus.

A trip to Pigeon Forge is not complete without a trip to the Apple Barn. The last time we were there last August, we bought Apple Pies and also we had a mug of frozen apple cider. I also like the apple julip and apple fritters served at the Restaurant there

You will be glad to know that there is now another Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant open for business. The Burning Bush Restaurant in Gatlinburg closed on January 31, 2004, and reopened on March 1, 2004, as the fourth Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant.

The other three are the original Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant in Sevierville, the Applewood Farmhouse Grill also in Sevierville, and the Applewoods Restaurant in Oklahoma City, OK.

Within the next few years they should be joined by many others, since the Applewood Restaurants have now become a chain with franchises available. I heard someplace that the next one to open will probably be in Nashville, TN.

It is the Apple Barn and they are great, not the Apple Wood.

I happen to have a menu that I brought home from Pigeon Forge and it is called the Applewood Farmhouse Grill or Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant. The gift shop is probably called the Apple Barn

I think Sundancer7 is talking about the snack bar at the back of the Apple Barn gift shop, where you can get the fried apple turnovers and drinks. The bakery where you can buy whole pies and the ice cream shop are also part of the gift shop complex that sits between the Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant and the Applewood Farmhouse Grill.

I have never tried the snack bar myself, since every time we go into the gift shop we are either waiting to be seated at one of the restaurants or we have just finished eating at one of them.

Hmmm... All this time I have been calling it the Applebarn Restaurant. I need to go up there more often AND pay closer attention!

Ate there for the first time over the Fourth this year.

Outstanding food! We ate breakfast and didn't really need to eat again for a week. I had the fried chicken breakfast with potatoes. Tender, tasty; don't know if I'll be able to duplicate that again soon.

One minor (very minor) thing: Between the apple julep, the apple fritters with apple butter, and the fried apples with every plate, I got over the apple thing pretty quick. You know what they say, "Sometimes less is more.".

I am planning a wedding in Gatlinburg and am looking for a place for the reception. I've heard great things about applewood. What are the prices like? No prices on the website.

Don't miss the Lodge cast iron outlet or the Smokey Mtn Knife shop on the way.

I believe you were referring to the Apple Barn vs. Applewood? If so their prices are moderate. I cannot quote exactly what they are but it seems to me that breakfast is between $5.00 to $10.00, lunch is between $7.00 to $15.00 and dinner slightly higher.

They have a comfort inn on site and it was rated the #1 of its kind in the USA. There are two restaurants on site plus numerous other shops. I have never been dissapointed.
