Arby's VS Wendy's

How did Arby but Wendy out? Go to any Arby's on the 2 food rows we have in my community and see a packed Wendy's and an empty Arby's. We jst got our food from Wendys and drove by to see only employee cars at the other. I found they skipped my sauce for the Nuggets which ruins the deal. I called to complain and they manager demanded to give me a credit on the entire order. Next visit they will redo the whole thing for blowing 1 sauce. Its a great way to keep people happy!

Bob and I got VERY sick on Arbys two years ago-we were traveling and should have known by the people in the restaurant returning their food. And since there is no Wendy's around us, I cant compare. All I know is Arby's used to have good beef, back in the 70s.Now they use this cheap meat and no amount of cheese or sauce can cover that.

I like both places. Wendy's always seems to screw up their drive thru orders though, i.e., the sauce for the nuggets. It's happened to me more than once. I like Arby's. I liked them back in the 70s and still like them to this day.

Except as HotDogHead said about Wendy's drive through not being very accurate throwing the right stuff in the bag, I would take Wendy's any day over Arbys.

I'd have to say I like Wendy's for burgers but we have a local roast beef chain, Beef-A-Roo, that absolutely blows Arby's doors off, not even close in quality. Beef-A-Roo has seven locations to Arby's four locations in the Rockford area. Arby's is another one of those national chains that, at one time, had a very good product but let their quality slip. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see Arby's disappear.

I stopped buying at Wendy's 20 years ago after about the fortyseveneleventh time I was handed the wrong stuff at the drive-through window, although I did order three sandwiches for 99-cents there several months ago just to see what would happen. I have a neighbor who is a Wendy's executive who won't get Wendy's takeout at the drive-through window for the same reason.

Windy's once made a good spicy chicken sandwich. They claim it is still made the same on some recent TV ads here. I have not had one in a few years though. If it is made the same it would be good. Arby's, I stopped and got a few of their limited time BBQ sandwiches for 99c. I was surprised that they were not bad. They stopped selling them... hmmm? Joe

I remember that spicy chicken sandwich. I remember my wife and my grandson getting them once. I tasted it. Not bad at all.

Michael, their baked taters are not bad ether. Some folks like their chili. With enough jalapenos I can eat it over a tater but... it does have beans. :~( WH chili is much better. Joe

Once in a while, when I'm looking for a quick and cheap lunch, I'll get a burger and chili at Wendy's, mainly because their chili is similar to my late mother's homemade brew. Their burgers are certainly nothing special, but at least they're better than the crud at McDonald's and Burger King. However, I will not go back to Arby's again; their once-tasty roast beef sandwich is almost inedible nowadays. I've got to get up to Rockford one of these days and check out Beef-A-Roo, as I've read some positive things about this chain.

nocarolina, If you're ever in the Rockford area you've gotta check out Beef-A-Roo. Everything on the menu is very good, they even have "real" deep fried onion rings, not the slop that Burger King puts out. You can check out the menu and read about them here... http://www.beefaroo.com/

JMG, thanks for the website connection. I checked it out, and I must say that Beef-A-Roo looks veeeerrry interesting ( with apologies to Arte Johnson. ) I love a good roast beef sandwich, and I'm sure not going to get anything like that at Arby's. Gotta make a trip out your way sometime soon.

DO NOT, I repeat, DO NOT get any burger from Beef-a-roo!!!!!! They are undeniably the WORST FF burger that you can buy! Not fit for my dog! They do have good cheddar fries and steak biscuits in the morning, but I have not ventured into their roast beef sandwich realm.

Lindseyup67 I think you might have your Beef-A-Roo's mixed up. They don't serve breakfast in the Rockford area. Their cheddar fries are very good and their burgers are great. My favorite is the mushroom and swiss burger.

I think my affinity for Arby's comes from memories of 20+ years ago when they actually used to shave real roast beef. I think I'll just hold onto those memories and not go back and face today's reality.

Arby's must be a big tax writeoff for someone...all the one's around here are always empty...even at lunch time!! Perhaps it is because most people can't trust a chain whose signature roat beef sandwich isn't real roast beef...how can you give them ANY business.....While Wendy's is a trash burger place, they're not all that bad...buns especially are well made.

brittneal How did Arby but Wendy out? Arby's didn't buy Wendy's. The holding company that owns Arby's bought Wendy's.

The only place I see crowds at Eastgate Cincinnati as far as fast food hamburger joints is at McDonalds - which just goes to show you how bad our collective taste is in food.

If you want to claim that Arby's r.b. is not real roast beef, you'll also have to say that most of the meats sold in the deli sections of stores aren't real either. Unless the label specifically says "whole", the process of making these "meats" is the same as the process for making Arby's r.b. Have you ever seen a ham that's shaped like those in the deli case that doesn't have a bone? What about the turkey breast? Ever see one like it cut from a turkey?

No....beef-a roo is beef-a-roo.....the problem may lie in that they are locally owned.......some serve breakfast, some not.

I don't like Arby's anymore or Wendy's. I wouldn't be surprised if both of our local ones close their doors soon. If you ever come to Versailles Wilson's Pool Hall is the place to go for great roadfood. Andrea

You are absolutely correct. But, somehow Arby's beef loaf does not compare well with the Boar's Head Oven Gold Roast Turkey or Tavern Ham that I buy. Maybe it's just not made well.
