Are you a DUNKER or No Dunking?

I love dunking grilled cheese sandwiches into cream of tomato soup.
I don't seem to dunk donuts or cookies anymore. But every now and then there's nothing like a soggy, milk-laden Oreo cookie waiting to be inhaled!

I'm a "sopper" (bread in gravy) and a "crumbler" (cornbread in "potlikker"), but not a dunker,

The only things I still dunk are cookies into milk (especially Oreos) and the occasional french fry into a chocolate shake...

From my childhood of dunking white toast into my hot chocolate, to dunking lobster in butter, I am a dunker, dipper, active eater all the way. Sometimes I just want the physical involvement more than the food. But many things get soggy and fall into the glass, which I then can't drink, blech

I like to dunk cookies in milk - problem is I don't care for milk!" />
I like to dunk biscotti in my hot tea & foccacia in olive oil, lobster in butter, shrimp in cocktal sauce, veggies in dips, soft pretzels in mustard, hard pretzels in sour cream .. oh, I could go on!

I must say I always remember my Dad, he loved to dunk his cookie, donuts, whatever in milk. But would just as happily dunk in his glass of beer!

TheQueen of my Home is a definite Dunker..A favorite late evening activity/snack is a stack of whatever cookies we happen to have around...a Large glass of cold milk and her current reading material. We don't do Doughnuts often, but when we do it is a coffee dunk for her and a milk on the side for me. I Don't Dunk that stuff.

We have farm-family style restuarant in the area that serves "Fried Biscuits" and Apple Butter... I do like to make a large puddle of homemade Apple Butter on the bread plate and dip my Biscuit (like a raised doughnut(no hole) but not the extra sweet dough)

However, Shrimp into cocktail sauce.."Dry BBQ" into a cup of sauce, ears of corn into a bowl of melted butter, catfish fillet (finger food for me) into the tartar sauce...etc etc
I am not sure that "Dipping" and "Dunking" are the same thing.

How is this for a definition: Dunking is into things not intended for that use...like drinks. Dipping is intentional and socially accepted, with items provided solely for that purpose...au jus, ketchup, melted butter. Is that right?

Let's see, then I dip my Biscotti in wine (original intent) but dunk in my tea?

Sounds right to me..............I do admit that my sister and I used to dunk graham crackers into our milk as a "good night" snack. But my mother frowned upon it and we had to be real "sneaky" when we did it!

Mercy no! Unless it's another one of those immaculate things (in which case, call the Vatican). I can't get my husband home long enough to accomplish anything of that sort!

Actually it's quite good--someone back in high school did it at McDonald's and I tried it, not willing to seem uncool. Something about the mixture of flavors, the sweet and salty at the same time and the temperature difference.
