I'll be working until 0730 Turkey morning and will be back in at 2300 Turkey night. We're scheduled to eat @ 2PM at some friends house. I get to make squash casserole, deviled eggs and a German Chocolate cake. Ham and turkey will also be served. Can't wait! Christmas is the only holiday I am sure to get off, if not offered I'd insist on it. MikeS.

Thanksgiving has allways been important to me ever sinse 1966 when I pulled guard duty while in the Corps..by the time I got thru the mess hall was closed and back then no restaurants open ended up with a coke and stale popcorn from a vending machine...now I cook my own and invite no one...just me and the Lions and parades and the old Tom..maybe a little pumpkin pie..

This is my second year of having not only Thanksgiving Day off, but also Wednesday and Friday. I work at a college, and they give Wednesday as a holiday so students will have better access to flights home, if they are so inclined. I am not going anywhere, so, for me, this is a little too much free time in an otherwise busy period at work. Saying that I would RATHER be working just sounds a little crazy. Steve

Things may have been better by the early 70s. At Camp Fuji for Thanksgiving 73, the Marines were served canned Turkey Loaf with powdered potato and gravy. It was awful, but the guards got some because I remember delivering it. Semper Fi!!

Lol, I have Thursday & Friday off, but I will be working harder in the kitchen than I do at the office. 15 for dinner, and nobody volunteered to bring anything. Oh well, I am keeping all the leftovers. Happy Thanksgiving all The Lady

Yes. Always work on Thanksgiving! I've been in the restaurant biz for 24 years and have worked nearly every turkey since then. People often forget that restaurant / foodservice people, especially veterans in the biz, never see the holidays. Christmas, New Years, Valentines Day, Mother's Day, Easter, Memorial Weekend, 4th of July, Labor Day Weekend, and so on..... Nacho www.RestaurantEdge.com

I was a nurse at a Children's Hospital in Minneapolis and always worked Thanksgiving Day. At the end of my shift and I went home to my dinner with my three daughters, I knew what to be thankful for. Happy Thanksgiving, and always count your blessings.

I used to work on some Thanksgivings when I was in broadcasting, and sometimes when I worked for The Associated Press, but I always tried to get some time off for a Thanksgiving hunt.

Yes. Annoyed grunt. Dang. Annoyed grunt. We've had two murders and a gunshot wound here in the last three days. So it's been busy in TV news land. I'm ready to leave the biz, if you can't imagine.

I worked Thanksgiving in 2001 and 2002. The most memorable part was the spread Greyhhound put out at it's call center, (where I worked at the time.) Also driving to Wal Mart the next morning and seing a line going around the block. This year i am self employed, (more or less.)

Work in a group home for developmentally disaabled adults but it isn't too bad. Cook dinner for the guys and my wife and son come over to help. A huge thank you to all food professionals who work on this holiday
