Is there anyone from Atlanta out there that can direct me to a good BBQ place? I will be in the Buckhead area in NE Atlanta near Lenox Square Mall from Feb 19-24. Thanks.

You probably could have gotten all this (hot dogs, BBQ) in one thread. Rolling Bones for BBQ, downtown. On your way to/fro the airport, go to Harold's (reviewed on this site.

Thanks. I will give Rolling Bones a try. And I will try and remember to use the Where Should I Eat? forum the next time I travel to an unfamiliar area. I hadn't thought of doing it the easy way.

If you don't want to leave the Buckhead area you can try "Pig N Chik" on Roswell Rd between Buckhead and Sandy Springs. It's in a strip shopping center anchored by a Kroger, but the que is pretty good.

If you are dependent on public transportation (MARTA) or a taxi, I would agree with Rolling Bones on Edgewood Avenue near downtown or Pig n'Chik on Roswell Road north of Buckhead. Also accessible from MARTA is KC Pit BBQ, on Hildebrand, just north of I-285 on Roswell Road in Sandy Springs. Their burnt ends are particularly good, but you will enjoy whatever you order. If you have your own transportation, you can do better with a slightly longer drive. Sam & Dave's BBQ 1 on Lower Roswell Road just east of Johnson Ferry Drive in Cobb County has the best brisket in Georgia. Their sides are all home made and are excellent. Their pork, ribs and chicken are all very good, also. IN Roswell, on Green Street, is Swallow at the Hollow. They are particularly noted for their ribs, portobello sandwiches and live music on weekends. Their sides are also noteworthy.

We'll be staying overnight in Atlanta next week on our way to the meet-up in Owensboro. I've noted the BBQ already mentioned and I'm aware of the Varsity. But I'd like some other suggestions for good roadfood- especially if there is any in the area of the new Aquarium (Mrs Seafarer loves aquariums) for lunch one day.

BTW: We will be without computer access after we leave this place tomorrow, Sunday, until we get home on about the 21st, so I'd appreciate any response to this request ASAP.

              Cheers, John

Collonade, on Cheshire Bridge Road, is a worthy consideration. More convenient to I-75 is OK Cafe. OK Cafe is on US 41 (Northside Drive) at West Paces Ferry Road. Take the next exit past Moores Mill Road and turn left. Ok Cafe is one block on your right. At normal dining times, expect a wait.

I don't know if you have already departed, or if you already know this, but my understanding is that the aquarium has opened to rave reviews and is jam packed. If you have not already bought tix in advance, you may be out of luck.

And, be careful. It is/was snowing there when last checked. Those GA rubes don't know how to handle that white stuff like us northern folk!
