Attention Costco Shoppers!

I am a HUGE fan of Costco, that said, warning, warning, don't buy the "New York Style Pastrami" it is awful, they KILL it with MSG or whatever, turns it into a wierd consistency, spit out terrible. Their Carnegi Pastrami was pretty good, don't know why they changed. You however, should try a new drink they carry, it's called Red Tea and is flavored with real fruit juice, damn good! Kirkland brand.

I'll bring this thread back, rather than add another... I too am a real Costco fan. When Janet took off this weekend to visit her son in Seattle (Ft Lewis) we stopped at Costco on the way to the airport to fill my Truck on the cheaper gas there. I found some really good Smoked Salmon Filets (Kirkland Brand) presliced and boneless , very LOX-Like in appearance and taste. I like Salmon, but don't eat it often...but a 20 oz package of this cracker or Bagel ready LOX is a real treat. A bit pricey at $18.00 for 1.25 lb (20 oz) but worth every penny to a bachelor with nothing on the agenda but Basketball and Snack food for the entire weekend! We also picked up some Racks of Lamb Ribs to feed Poverty Pete next weekend when he makes his semi-annual trip to Louisville to drain all the aging Beer out of my refrigerator, thats the beer he put in there during his last visit (six months ago) ! The Saturday night menu will be Rack of Lamb with Armenian Rice Pilaff. (Remember the MASH episode with Radar saving the life of the Lamb that was targeted for a MASH Dinner??)

No but I remember the bunny that was going to be a pregnancy test that he saved. I spent a small fortune yesterday at Costco, bought an 8750 surge watt generator, 7k constant. Has a Honda motor and battery start. Bought 2 cases of diapers and 2 of wipes for our youngest g'daughter. 2 lbs of jerky and a tub of Maine lobster dip. 80 lbs of cat litter and other stuff too.

We were clearing out the current coupon book for items we use , not too many this time, so our receipt showed about $130 at the door. I must agree with many who say you can't get out of a Costco visit for under $100. We Have done it, but not often. I need a new HP printer to replace my defunct Canon 6 year old machine. They have one with a $60 instant rebate that we have checked the reviews on and have decided to get it shortly. Janet has purchased a large number of garden flower bulbs there and, so far, they are producing beautiful results.

We used to joke about the Costco 100 dollar club. Now it is rare that I get out for less then 150.

I'm happy if I get out under $200. Diapers and wipes really add up!

BTW - Kirkland Beer, says it's made by The New Yorker Brewing Company in Utica NY. There is no New Yorker Brewing Company in Utica, there is, however FX Matt, who makes Saranac (and others). So, Kirkland basically equals Saranac - this, I've surmised on the taste of the beers, not juts the fact that they're using Matt's vats. At $18.99 for a case, it's a real bargain!

That is a nice price for Saranac. Any idea which variety of Saranac they are providing?

One complaint I have about all COSTCO loacations in the state of Georgia - per Customer Service Departments who can check what others are doing - is that no store stocks the Campbell's Italian Wedding Soup with meatballs and spinach in the multi-pack. COSTCO mailed out another coupon for this product recently. Yes, I have read comments in roadfood.com that this is not an authentic Italian recipe or tradition, etc., though one Italian friend disagrees, but it is IMO a good canned soup and I am unhappy to pay the Publics price. Yes, I have probably brought this up before!

we have that soup here in DC area (Arlington location). However, I've become a huge fan of the Amy's Organic soups - 8 cans, 4 Lentil, 4 Minestrone - IMO, the best minestrone in a can on the market - the lentil is up there, too. BTW- I can't believe how expensive soup has become in the regular grocery stores! wow.

Scorereader BTW- I can't believe how expensive soup has become in the regular grocery stores! wow. I tend to buy either Progresso or Campbell's Chunky soups if I'm going to buy canned soup. During the winter, between coupons and loss leader sales, I never pay more than $1 a can; I usually buy about 20-30 cans (over several weeks), which last me for the year. Costco is good if you can't or don't want to wait for things to go on sale in the supermarket, and certainly good for some things that never go on sale at the supermarket.
