Attention DC Area Roadfooders.....

....spend your lunch hour at Ben's Chili Bowl on Tuesday, December 14th. I will be there, as well as i95. Please join us. Don't make me eat with him all by myself.

We are meeting at 11:30 am. If you care to join us, please email me or Mr. Interstate himself. Even though he has vaporized into the Roadfood aether, his email, oddly, still works.

It will be very informal. We'll meet right outside the restaurant (just like i95--hanging out on street corners). No name tags or door prizes. Just eatin' and talkin'.

Ben's is conveniently located on Metro's Green line. Get off at the U Street/African American Civil War Memorial/Cardozo stop and exit at the 13th and U Sts. As you come up the escalator to the street, look to your right, across the street. You will see the Lincoln Theater. And immediately to the right of that is your half-smoke heaven destination: Ben's Chili Bowl. It couldn't be easier to get there.

I'd love to, but while Ben's is only a 15-20 minute walk from my Adams Morgan apartment, it's a 40 minute drive from my office out in Reston, VA. :(

Hey guys... count me in. Chris might come with, depending on -- cough, cough -- how she's feeling that day and I'm going to check with one of my buddies in VA to see if he's interested. He'd fit right in.

Unfortunately I spoke too soon, as there are things that require my presence that day and they are not located at Ben's

Sure wish that I could come but my daughter-in-laws company Christmas party (with over 40 attending) will be at our home just a few days later and I will be busy as can be getting everything in "glistening" shape. Thank goodness that we do have this party yearly or the place would never get beautifully cleaned!

Tell i-95 that he can send me a frozen half smoked or two in the mail.

Al: Good luck with the eye sugery. I had a cataract removed a year ago and it was a piece of cake. The best part was the hallucinogen they gave me- i'd go have another eye fixed just for the trip. The second best was that my wife watched the whole thing (except my hallucinations) on a TV screen in the waiting room. Third best was that insurance paid the whole shot.

Awwwww! Hubby and I were actually considering coming to this, but they've just moved my office Christmas party to that exact day, and I have to go. It's the good one anyway, where everybody brings potluck. (As opposed to the horrible $14-a-plate buffet made by the cafeteria folks. ) The office party is much better than the Department party, IMHO.

Anyway, I'm sorry we won't make it. Have fun at Ben's.
