Two in the afternoon during the week isn't a good time to look for great grub on Beale St. unless there's something going on. Especially on a Mon. or Tue.. BB Kings is my choice anytime. Never have been let down. Try the Gumbo or BBQ Nacho's or the Delta Blackned Catfish or the... .

Don't know how I missed that. I'm a big fan of his and his joint. I go to Memephis at least once a year and go to BB's every time. I play The Mid-South Fair in Sept. and can't wait till it's over so I can go stuff myself in Memphis for a few day's. Memphis come close to New Orleans as my favorite city to graze. I've hit Beale St. early in the day on the Monday's after the show closed for a couple of years and some places literally had no food to serve till later. To be fair to the pantry people I'm always down there when somethings going on (Memphis has a lot goin' on). BB's has always had something to please me ! You can find me sitting at the bar the Monday after the fair closes. Dig it Cool Breeze, I'll be the one slurping Gumbo robustly and rudely and with great relish while wearing my cool blues shades .

I'm with WJ on Neeley's. I loved that place. Service was good and friendly, and the pulled pork was excellent. I brought home some of their spices and condiments as well as a few lbs of the Pulled pork, on ice. I've been to Neeley's west several times, unfortunately not recently. Interstate was "ok" when I was there last in 2001, but just didn't seem like Memphis "Q" to me, which I know is ironic, given they have the most recognized name , there.

Pat T Hat, BB's is the first place I ever ate fried pickles at in my life. We were seated near some Japanese blues fans that spoke very little English. They were however as I found out also Japanese professional wrestling fans of which I was too at the time. I'd shout out a Atsushi Onita, Jumbo Tsuruta, Tenryu, or an Inoki and they'd buy us another round of drinks, bowing and smiling as we all got slightly smashed. It was a very memorable night; one of those you couldn't plan, you just fall into. Junior Wells and William Clarke were on that night too making it all that much better. Long live BB King!
